To access the Operation Northwoods documents in the National Archives, first go to the Archival Research Catalog (ARC) on the website
of NARA (U.S. National Archives and Records Administration) at:

http://www.archives.gov/research_room/arc/index.html

Click on the yellow “Search” button in the top of the left column there. Then, in the top box of the page that appears, type “Northwoods” and click
on the “Search” button to the right of the box. You will see the following item:

Title: Northwoods, U.S. Military Intervention in Cuba, 1962
ARC Identifier: 305036

Click on the “Digital Copy Available” icon of this item. You will then see the first ten pages of 181 pages available on Operation Northwoods.
This link expires after 30 minutes (along with the URLs of individual Operation Northwoods pages), which is why we cannot provide a direct link for you.

For the most pertinent documents regarding Operation Northwoods, find the “Digital copy” in the upper center part of this webpage.
Click on 10, then 13 and scroll down to 129. The most revealing 15 pages of Operations Northwoods documents begin on page 129 and continue to 143.
To view any of these pages, simple click on the thumbnail image of the page you would like to view. You will find the most shocking information on
pages 138 to 141.

The following digital copies are hosted on my testforum as the National Archives recycles the URL's.
It is the pages 129 through 143 talked about in the above quote.

If you only wish to read the "meat", scroll down to the double rows of red asterix's and begin there.

Thank you for posting the more significant of those original documents JFK.

Seeing the real thing, really brings the message home.

MM

Edited for clarification.

The fact that the memo references the winter/spring of 1962 is significant because "CIA: Legacy of Ashes" documents that Robert Kennedy proposed a false flag operation to CIA Director John McCone in August.

"On August 21, Robert Kennedy asked McCone if the CIA could stage a phony attack on the American military base at Guantanamo Bay as a pretext for an American invasion of Cuba."

p. 193 "CIA: Legacy of Ashes" by Tim Weiner

Tim Weiner's footnote cites - McCone memo 8/21/62 in "CIA Documents on the Cuban Missile Crisis" FRUS Vol X document 385

Bobby was probably aware of (if not the originator of) the Northwoods plan and was probably unhappy that it wasn't going anywhere, so he tried to push MCone to go for it.

Yeah, it would not surprise me if that document is in the batch refered to in the opening post as it appears to be a conglomeration of Northwoods and Mongoose.

I have just now discovered that out of the 181 documents, 34 are multi page .gif files which can be viewed with Windows picture and fax viewer.

If I get a chance I will look for that McCone memo and post it in this thread if I find it.
