Again, that was in a private e-mail. When you are from or have been around or influenced by the urban culture, this is commonplace. I have latino and african blood flowing through me and many of black friends have never been offended. I know Dylan isn't black and I know he listens to hip hop, so I figured he would get the verbal chest-poke and non-racist connotation. But it was misinterpreted and used publically, which ultimately fanned the flames. My mistake was speaking freely and out of anger.
