can't say I disagree on any of your points, orac; however - and maybe it's just semantics - but the C word is having a laugh over a derisive term that is specific toward women, and is only for women, used more or less exclusively by men toward women, and usu because said women are deemed by said men to be TOO aggressive, TOO powerful, TOO assertive, TOO much of any trait that is usually reserved for men. When men are any of these, or excessively so, they're praised, promoted, inaugurated; women, not so much. This is my point, that it's the men v. women's equiv of the N word toward blacks; it's devoid of any particulars about the person's choices, words or actions. It's a term used exclusively to put women "in their place", much like white males use with blacks & the N word. I'm all for exposing skeletons & putting better ideas out there. Gender, race, clothing and such superficial items count for very little in matters of who we put in power. |
