and there is this video where the TV blacks out when the plane hits the trade center (link below) - around 2:53

Also in that same video at 2:00, the news announcer states that at least one tv station went off the air due to the first plane impact disrupting the antenna.

At 2:14 you can see the power disrupted on the ground as the second plane impacts. Then the video continues to show disruptions in the tv signals on several stations.

What I'm guessing is when the plane impacts the tower and all of the electrical wires are exposed, they become grounded which causes a brief stress on the local power grid. I work at a facility that has a couple dozen buildings. We've blown many transformers in my time there. When a transformer goes, it affects the entire campus with either a brief disruption in power where the power will shut off for a second then come back on, or it leaves the whole campus without power.

Brian Clark, a south tower survivor who was 6 floors above the second plane impact said there was no power in the upper floors of his tower, which would make sense. He said once he was able to get below the impact zone, it was normal conditions. Normal power, normal air like nothing had happened.

*edit to add* There was one time where a semi backed into an area he wasn't supposed to that had a power line hanging too low. His trailer grounded the power line and not only caused the power to be out at our entire campus, but it caused thousands of dollars in damage to equipment, tools, vending machines, lights in the ceiling, etc. due to the overload.
