From what I've heard about the way Washington works, each bureau of government has a head by confirmation, appointment, or promotion from within. Firing someone that performs poorly is the only measure by which the job is measured. Due to regulations, not many people who are mucking up the bureaus with poor performance cannot be easily fired. Most of the people who are mucking up government are friends and work together and cover for each other. This is unfortunately within the law and within reason. I think the problems that we'll see will be related around regulation of business, environment, and the Justice Department. I think the Justice Department needs more attention. Bush has put nothing but trained 700 club evangelicals into positions of power as prosecutors, public defenders, and judges. Without the Justice Department being repaired and the backlog cleared a new investigation looks dubious. Congress won't hear anything about war crimes even as far as Dick Cheney goes. We'll never get a new 911 investigation in this nation unless these staunch defenders of the Bush presidency recuse themselves from the case. At most we can hope for is health care for 911 first responders. I think the importance of finding out if COINTELPRO by the FBI or DHS has been restarted against US citizens. I don't think the question, "What do you like about Obama?" is valid. As a person he is highly intelligent and this deserves our attention and vigilance more so than Bush. Based on Obama's past performance, I think his election feels fixed by fate and the US has chosen a new direction; so I don't think its really about liking him per say. Obama is more qualified than Bush [EDIT: And McCain]. Time and decision making skills measure a President, so we haven't seen anything. We need to see who and how the key qualified individuals are, and how these tie into the AIPAC, Bonesmen and other secretive organizations. They know we are watching, and they know we know that they know we know.
