Actually, it is not at all unusual for Americans of European descent to be related through some long ago connection. If all of YOU were to research your ancestors back that far, I'm willing to bet some of you are connected to these same lines as well. One of MY ancestors had a sister who was married to one of Obama's half-uncles. So, while we are not, to my knowledge, actually related, we are connected by some marriage 10 generations ago. I saw a stat somewhere once about the percentage of Americans who are actually descended from European royalty, and I don't remember what it was now, but I remember thinking it was amazingly high. |
