What a crock ?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselection2008/barackobama/2700555/Barack-Obama-wanted-to-join-the-US-military.html

snip

Barack Obama has said he considered joining the United States military when he left school but decided not to because the Vietnam war was over and "we weren't engaged in an active military conflict at that point".

snip

The statement is thought to be the first time during the 19-month-long presidential campaign that the Democratic nominee for the White House has indicated he once wanted to serve in uniform. The aspiration was not mentioned in either of his two volumes of memoirs.

Obama going to have a VERY long nose by the end of November !

Adding more... indeed he has no service, well except for the uncle, shoot, great uncle...of course now, the excuse is neighborhood organizer because there was no active war with killing going on.

A story made up to catch up.

The Illinois senator's newly-disclosed military ambition came after the choice of Sarah Palin as the running mate of his opponent John McCain ensured that for the first time in modern history three of the four candidates on the two presidential tickets would have a son that had served or would serve in a war zone.

Seriously, he would have been better off saying he didn't want to join or he didn't think the military was for him. I don't know what he was thinking when he said this BS.

Is Obama losing it somewhat with these fickle statements?

It would seem he is making quite a few more verbal blunders today than usual ?

Desperation is setting in away from the teleprompter!

.
He has been campaigning an awful long time for this to just spill out.

It seems he did everything planning for a career as a Chicago Civil-Rights leader (which pays real well!) and this doesn't fit that template. It wouldn't help him at all in that endeavor.

He's getting rattled...he accidentally called himself a Muslim in an interview.

After what obama said about joining the army, was it accidental or a slip of the tongue?

I think Rush Limbaugh commented last week that if these attacks on Palin continue Obama will in a few weeks be losing by double digits in the poles!

MSM just cannot help themselves!

RATTLED seems very correct Joan !

This 'recently' revealed story about him considering the military is fantastic in the true sense of the word. He would strike NO ONE as a person who would join the military to see any action. It is laughable. They call it the service, because its members 'serve', he doesn't strike me the type to be interested in serving anyone but himself. For him to say he didn't join because the war was over, clearly shows how little he understands about the military. He implies that Americans join only to fight and kill - maybe he's listened to "Alice's Restaurant" too many times.

The way he has defended himself against really false accusations, that would cause a normal person to see red and steam come out of their ears, has appeared contrived to me. His affect has been the same regardless of the situation. It seems he is holding back emotions and keeping them in check. If his polling numbers begin to dip I think his 'real' feelings will begin to emerge more and more - and they won't be pretty.

He is a product of the Chicago machine and has been propped up, groomed and stroked for POTUS, he believes the hype - if he begins to see it slip away he will not be able to deal with it or reconcile it emotionally. He either breaks or explodes. IMO

Any bets on whether he claims that he did enlist?

The pressure for obama to convince the electorate that some kind of meaningful service was in his life may be difficult, and I think we are seeing the break coming now. I dont suspect he can talk that much about his neighborhood organization experience because of the potential for negatives being discovered. How old was he when he admitted to doing all those hard drugs?

He got it from Hillary.

O: What do I do?

H: Claim you wanted to join the Marines, but your eyeglasses were too thick.

O: Huh?

H: It worked for me.

A drowning man will do ANYTHING necessary to get air. True desire is equal only to what you will do to get the object of that desire.

From a devotional.

We will be happy to send Obama to Iraq to serve as a community organizer.

Obama was 7 years old when the Vietnam conflict ended. So he is now says that by age 19 he considered joining the army but there was no conflict. Since when do we have to have a conflict to cause someone to join the military. The man is delusional.
