Update: Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin welcomes son; introducing Trig Paxson Van Although not due until May 18th, the governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, gave birth to her fifth child today, Friday, April 18th, at 6:30 am. Trig Paxson Van Palin weighed in at 6 lbs, 2 oz when he was born at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. Trig is a Norse word meaning "true" and "brave victory." The name is in honor of his great uncle, a Bristol Bay fisherman, while the name Paxson comes from the well-known snowmobiling area in Alaska, which Sarah and husband Todd Palin love. Sarah, 44, had her water unexpectedly break (just a slow leak of amniotic fluid, she shared) while attending an energy conference in Texas, but checked in with her doctor, was able to stay, deliver a 30 minute speech, and then get on a plane to return to her home state in time for the delivery (which ended up needing to be induced) early this morning. "I am not a glutton for pain and punishment. I would have never wanted to travel had I been fully engaged in labor. After four kids I knew what labor felt like, and I wasn't in labor." <snip> ![]() Full Article |

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/08/us/politics/08baby.html?hp=&pagewanted=all Fusing Politics and Motherhood in New Way Sarah Palin's baby shower included a surprise guest: her own baby. He had arrived in the world a month early, so on a sunny May day, Ms. Palin, the governor of Alaska, rocked her newborn as her closest friends, sisters, even her obstetrician presented her with a potluck meal, presents and blue-and-white cake. Most had learned that Ms. Palin was pregnant only a few weeks before. Struggling to accept that her child would be born with Down syndrome and fearful of public criticism of a governor’s pregnancy, Ms. Palin had concealed the news that she was expecting even from her parents and children until her third trimester. But as the governor introduced her son that day, according to a friend, Kristan Cole, she said she had come to regard him as a blessing from God. “Who of us in this room has the perfect child?” said Ms. Palin, who declined to be interviewed for this article. |

I want him too. And apparently, she was right about her fear of public criticism. Which is truly unfortunate, given that she should have been free to enjoy her pregnancy. |

And to think that the Slimes was one of the entities that tried to fuel the rumor that the baby belonged to Bristol. (This is the same Slimes that wanted us to believe that Crystal spat out Reade Seligmann's semen, which was found on the floor, but by then it magically had been transformed to belong to someone else -- without Crystal's DNA from her saliva.) It was a wonderful story, and no doubt we can see Bill Maher making fun of it. Again.

People can just be so awful and cruel and horrid. The left poses as "compassionate" and "sensitive." It's all just a scam to seize power. The left's control over public schools has made their agenda a reality by the dumbing down of Americans, and now we are poised at the brink of their total consumption of us and this great country. I refuse to "go" gently. |

I'm about to date myself, but I remember when JFK was in the White House, his kids played in the Oval Office -- and the media went ga-ga. This was more "proof" of the "energetic, youthful" president. (The media did not show his "energy" and "vitality" when he was carousing with a long line of women in the White House.) For that matter, Lincoln's children played in his office as well. Big deal. Yet, we now are reading either that this is "inappropriate" or "something new." Give me a break.
