NARAL also points out that Palin, a member of the anti-abortion group Feminists for Life, said during her campaign for governor that she is opposed to abortion, even in cases of rape or incest. But she also said she would support abortion only if the mother's life was in danger. But when it came to her daughter, she said, "I would choose life." Edited by brittany, Sep 6 2008, 07:10 AM.

It appears these groups forgot that Susan B. Anthony was a pro life feminist, too. |

http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/feminism/fe0019.html Feminists for Life also honored two elected officials: Michigan State Rep. Patricia Lockwood and Minnesota State Rep. Mary Ellen Otremba. Both Democrats, they work on legislation that expresses their pro-life position. Lockwood sponsored a law to curb baby abandonment, while Otremba co-sponsored a Women's Right to Know bill. Known as the mother on CBS's "Everybody Loves Raymond," Heaton defended motherhood in a debate on the Oxygen network. A doctor on the program had told the audience that the "morning after" pill would allow women "the opportunity — instead of having babies every year — they could actually do something with their lives." To which Heaton, a mother of four, responded, "Having and raising children is doing something with your life! … And I have to say that having your kids is one of the greatest things you can do." As long as "choice" is the law of the land, which it is, pro-lifers "choose" life. In a better world, the child's life would not be in doubt. It's such a straw man argument to try to make something of Palin's reply, "I would choose life" when "choice" is the law of the land. The decision could not, therefore, semantically be anything other than a "choice." |

What is going to be interesting here is that the so-called Evangelical Left is trying to convince evangelical voters that the Democrats now are moving to the center on abortion issues. However, by going all-out to attack a woman because of her stand on abortion, the Democrats will be signaling that they are absolute on the abortion front. I can assure you that this militancy is going to turn a lot of evangelicals who might have leaned toward Obama into the Palin camp. This particular pro-abortion campaign simply will preach to the choir, but it will turn off many fence-sitters.

Yes, the Dems' treatment of Palin reinforces the (accurate) perception that getting born at all is a crap shoot in the Dem world. 43,000,000 abortions and counting since Roe. I wonder how many medical scientists, teachers, doctors, nurses, physicists, brilliant engineers and other essential achievers have been put to death. Edited by Jezebelle, Sep 6 2008, 08:16 AM.
