. Fox reported tonight that multiple sources are saying that the Obama campaign has passed on things to them to say about Sarah Palin - negative things. Things that would cause concern amongst the electorate. One such name the Obama campaign is urging its surrogates to use is Thomas Eagleton. George McGovern dropped Eagleton as his running mate after it became known that Eagleton was given radical treatments for depression. Seems like Obama's public stance in regard to Palin is not his private stance on muddying her name. |

Well, duh. I said it before. With proof, as proof is defined by the merchants of slime. |

I'm seeing talk of her being a member of a group that wanted Alaska to secede. But they're saying it like its a bad thing? |

Yep, same as the sleazebucket Clintons. The ol' "nuts 'n sluts" smear tactic. Governor, keep your chin up and just keep going forward. Consider their efforts to take you down as a measure of your effectiveness. View it as a compliment. You've been there and done this before. This is a bigger stage, but it's exactly the same game. Kick butt, take names, and never forget those names. |

Oh, and by the way, Fox News is reporting that reports are coming in that US magazine is losing thousands of subscribers, as well they should. I pray this will be their death knell. Let another yellow journalism rag bite the dust. |

US magazine rushed to smear Palin. It's not that they got their facts wrong. In some circumstances, that might be forgivable. Mistakes happen. Nobody is perfect 100% of the time no matter how hard you try. It's that they didn't bother to fact check anything. They just ran with what the hate blogs were saying. That's unforgivable. Completely. |

Where I work, all I hear is about the vaunted "Republican Attack Machine." One of the great media myths is the Democrats never attacking anyone, spreading rumors and outright lies. Anyone who has read Pandagon or Daily Kos or Huffington Post knows that the Democrats have a well-honed attack machine: It is called the MSM. Do Republicans do it? Yes, as anyone in politics does. Attack machines are the lifeblood of the political system. However, I am sick of the Big Lie that Democrats are the perpetual victims of attack -- and that they are passive creatures being bullied by the Big, Bad Republicans. Give me a break, people.

Bill, I really don't think the Repubs have an established pattern and practice of fabricating crap out of thin air. I can't say with confidence that it's never happened, but I can say with confidence that it's not their habit. The same CANNOT be said for the Dems. |
