I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over." Oprah Chicago politics... |

Highly doubt that Sarah will be on Oprah when she is vp. She won't have a white candidate on her show, but she is not a racist? What if Oprah were white and Aarah black? It's a busy time of day for me and I never watch her show these days. Besides, I don't need her to tell me what book to read. Edited by brittany, Sep 5 2008, 02:20 PM.

If the leak was real, the interesting part is who leaked and why? To force her hand or make her look bad? Should be fun there today. |

Interesting. Over 80% of the replies were negative. Some of the choice words used were "Liar, Hypocrite, racist." They should contact the sponsors.

Did anyone hear Rush Limbaugh yesterday? He played a clip of Elizabeth Hasselbeck speaking at some function in honor of Cindy McCain and she said basically that when Michelle Obama went on The View, she had a whole list of topics they weren't supposed to get into. Cindy McCain didn't put anything off limits during her appearance. Hmmmm. Interesting. Do you think VP Palin would get a fair shake on the Oprabama Show? I mean, when she goes on *after* the election? If I were her, I'd say screw Obramah. Go on someone else's show. Don't give Obramah the ratings benefit. |

Without Oprah, there would be Obama and HRC would the Democratic Nominee. Take that to the bank Now back to hypocrisy According to two sources, Winfrey was never comfortable with the tone of Wright's more incendiary sermons, which she knew had the power to damage her standing as America's favorite daytime talk-show host. "Oprah is a businesswoman, first and foremost," said one longtime friend, who requested anonymity when discussing Winfrey's personal sentiments. "She's always been aware that her audience is very mainstream, and doing anything to offend them just wouldn't be smart. She's been around black churches all her life, so Reverend Wright's anger-filled message didn't surprise her. But it just wasn't what she was looking for in a church." Oprah's decision to distance herself came as a surprise to Wright, who told Christianity Today in 2002 that when he would "run into her socially … she would say, 'Here's my pastor!' " (Winfrey declined to comment. A Harpo Productions spokesperson would not confirm her reasons for leaving the church.) But Winfrey also had spiritual reasons for the parting. In conversations at the time with a former business associate, who also asked for anonymity, Winfrey cited her fatigue with organized religion and a desire to be involved with a more inclusive ministry. In time, she found one: her own. "There is the Church of Oprah now," said her longtime friend, with a laugh. "She has her own following." http://www.newsweek.com/id/135392 Like Obama she left Trinity when it became a potential liability, NOT BEFORE! Like Oprah he formed the Church of Obama where he is the Messiah. It wasn't the rhetoric of Rev Wright when they both were Chicago based. It was the danger when the rest of the country found out what they believed in. They used their religion, something others have done, and is a shame when anyone does it of any faith. http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/story?id=5736716&page=1 Is Oprah Biased? Host Won't Interview Palin Republican VP Nominee Sarah Palin Isn't Welcome on 'Oprah' She may have let Tom Cruise jump all over her couch, but Oprah Winfrey says that Sarah Palin can't even sit on it. Fans of Oprah debate whether the talk show host is being bias but not invited Palin on her show before the election. At least not until after the presidential election, that is. Responding to media reports first publicized on Matt Drudge's "The Drudge Report" claiming that there was turmoil at Winfrey's Harpo Studios as to whether to book the GOP vice presidential nominee on the popular talk show, Winfrey's camp said that while she has nothing against Palin, the native Alaskan won't appear on the show anytime soon. snip

After reading some of the comments, I had to laugh. It does not appear that "liberal" women are Oprah's core audience. Not many comments defending her. They're tearing her statement apart. I suspect that some of her viewers who were going to vote for Obama just because the respected her opinion will now be changing their minds. Just goes to show, you can have great business (or entertainment) sense and have no political sense at all. |

One of the comments on the first page criticized Oprah for not having Palin on, and then went on to state, "That said, Obama '08". So, even an apparent (or claimed) Obama supporter thinks Oprah is wrong. Oprah used her fame that derives from her show to promote Obama, yet she refuses to invite Palin, a woman, onto her show that is viewed mainly by women. Nobody seems to be buying the line that interviewing Plain wasn't even discussed. Oprah needs to answer for this. Yes, I know it's her show and she can invite who she wants, but Oprah has put herself in the position of appearing personally to be no better than the rest of the strongly biased media and just as willing to resort to the same mean-spirited, unfair tactics that have been blasted against Palin since she broke onto the national stage a week ago. I say, "Boo, Oprah, boo! I thought you were better than that, even though your views are often misguided. I always gave you the benefit of the doubt because I thought you were at least mostly fair. Shame on you!" Edited by Jezebelle, Sep 5 2008, 06:11 PM.
