. News Reports call him Maryland Cyclist, which is misleading, at best. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/howard/bs-md-cyclist-dies-20150919-story.html Senior Leader in White House Technology Projects . Edited by Mason, Sep 21 2015, 05:23 AM.

Last Saturday, I stood in line at Jacks behind a young father holding his baby daughter in one hand and corralling his young son with the other. The little girl looked at me and smiled and I smiled back. She repeated the process with the other adults surrounding her. But in just a few minutes, she was overwhelmed by her new surroundings. So she closed her eyes, pressed herself close to daddy, and put her head on her shoulder. I'm sure your children did this to you, as you did it to your father, and he to his. Such is the bond between parent and child. I don't care how many times you witness such an act, you're struck by the emotion of the minute. Like many on Liestoppers, I was first introduced to Mary Katherine Ham by her splendid videos on the Duke Lacrosse case. They were both funny and informative. Most important, they struck a nerve. As the years went by, a family member or friend would update us on his her current status as she grew from a young Georgia journalism graduate to an influential Fox News guest reporter/analyst. I caught her on TV a couple of times. Then, a few years ago, I remember hearing that she got married. But that was the last I heard, until abb posted on Sunday. Instinctively, I turned to the web, checking news articles and watching videos. That's when I learned about Jacob Brewer, their little girl Georgia, and another child still living close to mommy's heart. I found lots of pictures and videos. The best was a simple radio talk show interview with MK and Jake. It didn't take long to see why Jake was a senior advisor at the White House at the young age of 34. He spoke about his wife in glowing terms, describing how he was politically a little left of center, while she was a bit further to the right. He spoke in complete sentences that drew you into the discussion. Basically, he left me with the impression that these kids are the best of the best. Each spurred the creative juices in the other, as they set out to change the world. MK positively glowed in Jake's presence. God made them parents, blessing them with two children. On Saturday, their world changed. Apart, but never separated in spirit, MK and the children must go on. I'm told that the mourning process goes through many phases :shock, sorrow, anger, acceptance, etc. It hurts - deeply. But it is in this great sorrow that we truly understand Tennyson's words: "I hold it true, whate’er befall; I feel it when I sorrow most; Tis' better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all." The greater the love, the greater the sorrow. Would Mary Katherine give up one moment with Jake, or one child to spare her the pain of the moment? I think not. Tonight, the whole family cries. Not alone, for God is with them, and they with each other. |

For some reason, I'm stuck thinking of how the "child still living close to mommy's heart" will be so important in this situation. |
