Port engine looks like a pile of junk...

Plane was burning merrily, and people still took time to get their luggage...

I think at about 50 seconds you can hear the Las Vegas tower start to tell planes to hold and to go around.

Let this be a lesson.

Pay attention to the preflight briefings.

Pay attention to where the exits are.

Pay attention to who is around you.

Etc.

It's better this happened on the ground then in the air.

I haven't been on a plane in ages but I most always paid attention... and always said a little prayer before take-off.

For many years, I traveled on business anywhere from 75 - 100% of my time. A couple of hints from my firefighter son: On airplanes: count the seat backs to the nearest exit. Get an exit row if you can, or close to. In hotels: before you settle in, count the doors to the nearest staircase. Hotels: don't stay above the 8th floor. That is as high as any big city ladder truck can reach. If you can: Get out! Always keep in mind that in a fire, you likely will not be able to see much, there likely won't be any lights, and you may be crawling on the floor.

If your airplane window starts to melt, it's time to leave, and don't stop for your luggage.

I guess it's not too often that ATC hears "Mayday Mayday" from the ground.

I once attended a seminar on handling emergencies given by Captain Haynes. His account was incredible: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Airlines_Flight_232

Interesting to see what exactly was the cause. Pretty scary failure if the source was GE90 engine. They are designed to contain damage and looks like it didn't.

That crew was fortunate it occurred at roll-out. 90 seconds later & it could have be much worst during initial climb out
