Chris Christie: The Inside Story of His Rise to Power
By Bob Ingle, Michael G. Symons

p. 103

Christie said nobody at the White House or Justice Department ever tried to get him to start or stop a corruption investigation. “Never once,” he said.”I’ve never heard from the White House that way ever. And I’ve never been called by the Justice Department to try to move me one way or the other on a political corruption case. It ‘s just never happened. They don’t even know what we’re up to in that area most of the time.”

(contents available on Amazon, through the "look inside" feature)

Yet Christie did apparently drop an investigation into a certain case in North Carolina.

Was he being extremely careful in selecting his words here--"on a political corruption case"--and meaning to
leave out whether there was pressure from the DOJ on other cases? Or is that reading too much
into it?

Like to know.

And there's no time better for pressing politicians for answers, than during a political campaign...

AG's Office Asks for Federal Help in Duke Lacrosse Criminal Probe
Posted October 31, 2007

[Really like to know how the DOJ avoided investigating the lax case...]

RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina attorney general has asked federal prosecutors to help conduct a criminal probe into former District Attorney Mike Nifong and others involved in the now-defunct Duke lacrosse case.

(snip)

In September, acting Durham County District Attorney Jim Hardin asked the attorney general's office to consider a criminal probe into the handling of the case.
