Yes, that's what happened here. We are now being paid to buy our own insurance.

I still wonder what the IRS will make of the extra money I am being paid to buy insurance.

Theoretically, I don't have to buy insurance with it. Or I could buy a cheaper plan and pocket the difference.

I guess it may depend on how the company reports it.

You better not spend it all. You will be taxed on it.

Company paid health care is not taxed at the moment.

...After receiving medical treatment numerous times between January and March, Harrington and Talon later discovered that their providers were not covered, forcing them to pay the charges out-of-pocket, the complaint said.

You'd think that would be caught at check-in when the paper work is completed prior to treatment.

Exchange Subsidies and Related Spending* = $17 billion for 2014
* Includes spending for exchange grants to states and net collections and payments for Risk adjustment, Reinsurance, and Risk corridors.

That is the most recent estimate of cost for the exchanges, which had been projected to be $26 billion in CBO's May 2013 report. The allegedly lower premiums was what the WH claimed provided those "savings." I doubt we'll find out what the actual cost of the 3-R's will be until after the election, though we witnessed insurance company exec's claiming they will be big.

Anyway, the point here is that we're spending about $17 billion or more to insure less than 2 million of the previously uninsured, probably closer to 1.5 million.

Just FYI: That's more that most states spend in their annual budgets for their entire population.

VIDEO: ObamaCare whistle-blower speaks out on ‘do-nothing’ contractor

Check out our interview with Paula Bujewski from tonight’s ON THE RECORD as she explains her allegations against Missouri ObamaCare processing center where she says employees were paid to do nothing.

"somebody figured out a way to make a lot of money doing nothing"

The Obama Administration is utterly corrupt, but hey the King & Queen fly around the world on our dime, dollar, billions!

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION PAVES WAY FOR OBAMACARE BAILOUT

A 436-page stack of regulations released on Friday by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) paved the way for the Obama administration to bailout health insurers who lost money on Obamacare.

Originally, the Obama administration promised its so-called "risk corridors"--a program to shift money from profit-making insurers to underperforming insurers to keep down premiums--would be temporary. On Friday, however, HHS said despite the fact that it expects there will be sufficient funds available, "in the unlikely event of a shortfall for the 2015 program year... [the Department of Health and Human Services] will use other sources of funding for the risk corridor payment" and that additional funding would "be subject to the availability of appropriations."

[...]

latest "Final Rule"

http://www.cms.gov/CCIIO/Resources/Regulations-and-Guidance/Downloads/508-CMS-9949-F-OFR-Version-5-16-14.pdf

The Department of Health and Human Services has submitted this rule to the Office of the Federal Register. The official version of the rule will be published in the Federal Register.
[...]
ACTION: Final rule.
SUMMARY: This final rule addresses various requirements applicable to health insurance issuers, Affordable Insurance Exchanges (“Exchanges”), Navigators, non-Navigator assistance personnel, and other entities under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (collectively referred to as the Affordable Care Act). Specifically, the rule establishes standards related to product discontinuation and renewal, quality reporting, non-discrimination standards, minimum certification standards and responsibilities of qualified health plan (QHP) issuers, the Small Business Health Options Program, and enforcement remedies in Federally-facilitated Exchanges. It also finalizes: a modification of HHS’s allocation of reinsurance collections if those collections do not meet our projections; certain changes to allowable administrative expenses in the risk corridors calculation; modifications to the way we calculate the annual limit on cost sharing so that we round this parameter down to the nearest $50 increment; an approach to index the required contribution used to determine eligibility for an exemption from the shared responsibility payment under section 5000A of the Internal Revenue Code; grounds for imposing civil money penalties on persons who provide false or fraudulent information to the Exchange and on persons who improperly use or disclose information; updated standards for the consumer assistance programs; standards related to the opt-out provisions for self-funded, non-Federal governmental plans and related to the individual market provisions under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 including excepted benefits; standards regarding how enrollees may request access to non-formulary drugs under exigent circumstances; amendments to Exchange appeals standards and coverage enrollment and termination standards; and time-limited adjustments to the standards relating to the medical loss ratio (MLR) program. The majority of the provisions in this rule are being finalized as proposed.

That was the summary of the 436 page regulation changes, the "final rule" until the next final rule! Needless to say, I've yet to set aside time for reading much more of it. There are so many topics covered in this announcement (as the Summary illustrates) that one needs to figure out what to read about before starting.

Bill Clinton: universal health coverage saves money

Former President Bill Clinton said the United States could save more than $1 trillion a year by adopting any other advanced nation's healthcare system....
Let's just switch to England's plan then, I hear they save lots of money denying needed medicine and procedures...

For someone that was such a good politician years ago, he sure is stepping in it now. 0bamacare is a disaster. It's destroying our nations system and forcing those of us that pay for our insurance to pay even more. Instead of people from other parts of the world coming here to get procedures done we will soon be going to other countries. What gets me the most about all of this is that many seniors and the AARP will still vote for whatever democrats runs next time around.

Bill hits more on other systems:

"Germany and France, with what is considered the most effective systems in the world in terms of universal coverage and quality of treatment, they spend 10 percent. Canada spends 10.5 percent...The United States spends 17.2 percent without having universal coverage."

Your point is still valid. The percentage of GDP is a good gauge to start with, but it is a very limited view of the overall picture. The GDP needs to be divided into the population to determine purchasing power. There's also level of care, taxes, entitlements, national debt, import/export ratio... so the GDP ratio to healthcare is not a clear indicator. Back to your point, I have no idea how good the service of the "10 percent" of GDP care is compared to ours. I suspect it resembles what we're seeing with the VA system and has little to no incentives for research that improves the care.

That approach resembles what his remarks on Social Security illustrate:

He said Social Security...would eventually fix itself. "Social Security is primarily just a demographics problem... if the economy stays this anemic we'll all be working too and that's not all bad, you'll live longer if you do... But when we all die off that will all be fixed."

His solution for financial problems is evidently just ignore it, somebody else will resolve it later and it's okay if we suffer from the problems.

He's just throwing s*** at the wall ...confusing Obamacare supporters into believing his "is" is the answer.

On to another point, Bill wants to tweak Obamacare. We know Obamacare is increasing the percentage of healthcare to GDP from 17% to 20%. The fix is upside down!

"The government may be paying incorrect subsidies to more than 1 million Americans for their health plans in the new federal insurance marketplace and has been unable so far to fix the errors, according to internal documents and three people familiar with the situation.

The problem means that potentially hundreds of thousands of people are receiving bigger subsidies than they deserve. They are part of a large group of Americans who listed incomes on their insurance applications that differ significantly — either too low or too high — from those on file with the Internal Revenue Service, documents show..."
