http://www.breitbart.com/InstaBlog/2014/03/27/Few-African-Americans-Enrolling-in-Covered-California Few African Americans Enrolling in Covered California African Americans are not signing up for insurance under Covered California at anywhere near their percentage of the population. With this year's enrollment deadline just around the corner, time to fix the problem is short. African Americans make up about 7 percent of California's population but just 3 percent of Covered CA enrollees. But the situation is actually worse than that because African Americans make up 17 percent of the state's uninsured population, the very people Obamacare was supposed to attract. Covered CA has previously been criticized for low enrollment among Latinos. The Latino population makes up about 46 percent of the subsidy-eligible uninsured but as of January they made up only about 20 percent of enrollees. Enrollment among Latinos has picked up somewhat since then. Carla Singleton, who is working on outreach in LA, tells the LA Times "From Covered California all the way down, there just hasn't been a lot of outreach." She suggests that, perhaps, the state's focus on closing the gap with Latinos may have left other minority groups to fall through the cracks. California is following the federal government's lead and has announced that anyone who starts an application for insurance before the official deadline next Monday will have until April 15th to complete it. In effect, a two week extension to apply. (source links in article) |

Obamacare: Taxpayers in the Hole for $1.5 Trillion “What the hell is this, a joke?” Speaker of the House John Boehner said in reaction to news this week that yet another “deadline” in the Affordable Care Act had been unilaterally delayed by the Obama administration. Unfortunately, the answer to that question is yes, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that the joke is on the American taxpayer. Late Tuesday, the Department of Health and Human Services – which has taken to bragging about “enrollment” numbers that fall millions short of their original goals – announced that the March 31st deadline for open enrollment had become more of a guideline. For those who could not navigate the troublesome Healthcare.gov web portal in time to meet the cutoff date for accessing approved plans, HHS would now keep the portal open and plans available for purchase, as long as users attested to the fact that they were “in line” for processing before the deadline. Since the announcement came almost a week before the deadline, that either suggests that it typically takes longer than that to complete an application, or that the website is more popular than a Lady Gaga concert....snipped ...All of that doesn’t begin to address the supposedly “fierce urgency of now” that demanded a top-down, command-economy government program to deal with the estimated 40 million Americans without insurance who should have flooded the system looking for coverage. If this system works as well as the Obama administration insists, where are all of the uninsured? Why haven’t we seen massive numbers of enrollments from the beginning if that was such a crisis as to require the kind of intervention Democrats imposed, at an estimated cost of $1.5 trillion dollars over the next ten years? That is the real joke, and it’s on us. Don’t expect us to laugh about it. Instead, we should double our efforts to jettison the jokers who are responsible for it. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/obamacare-taxpayers-hole-1-5-094500219.html Edited by Baldo, Mar 27 2014, 07:17 PM.

Republican candidate for Congress in Alabama, Will Brooke, Releases First Web Ad: Shooting Obamacare Vestavia Hills, AL – Today businessman and 6th District Congressional candidate Will Brooke released his first web ad, ObamaCare. Brooke gave the following statement about the ad: “ObamaCare is a train wreck that will damage America’s healthcare system and add trillions to our nation’s debt. Premiums here in Alabama are skyrocketing and over 90,000 individuals have already lost their health insurance. Just last night President Obama dictated another deadline extension, trying to save his fatally-flawed social welfare program. Our free, private markets are much better suited to deal with American’s health care needs than a bunch of politicians and bureaucrats. We need to get rid of ObamaCare. Then we need to replace it with a conservative, market-based solution. This ad shows that we can have fun with a serious subject, but for those who have already been hurt by the law here in Alabama, it’s anything but funny. I will fight every day to right the wrongs of ObamaCare.”..,..snipped http://www.votewillforcongress.com/brooke-releases-first-web-ad-shooting-obamacare/ Video: Let's Do Some Damage http://tinyurl.com/md5wuh5 |

http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/27/us-usa-healthcare-enrollment-idUSBREA2Q1UC20140327 Obamacare enrollment tops six million as deadline looms: White House http://www.newsday.com/long-island/politics/poll-affordable-care-act-fails-to-gain-support-1.7533184 Poll: Affordable Care Act fails to gain support Public support for President Barack Obama's health care law is languishing at its lowest level since passage of the landmark legislation four years ago, according to a new poll. The Associated Press-GfK survey finds that 26 percent of Americans support the Affordable Care Act. Yet even fewer — 13 percent — think it will be completely repealed. A narrow majority expects the law to be further implemented with minor changes, or as passed. The most optimistic outcome before 2017 comes thru the courts. |

The Medicaid is a different count entirely, another we do not have the exact numbers for! ADD: My guess is we will not have much more than 4 million paid customers by the time open enrollment re-opens for next year. The most recent estimate on the number of uninsured was just over 700,000, so it may reach 1 million. Edited by kbp, Mar 28 2014, 10:09 AM.

IIRC, the ratio of uninsured which had enrolled came from a reputable polling company and the reporter took the HHS 5 million count, then deducted 20% no-pays and applied the ratio to the balance (4 million paid). I do not recall who the reporter or polling company was. Quite a few reporters are starting to cite the no-pay level as 10-20%, as if that's fact. There has been absolutely ZERO reporters mentioning the ratio of customers who will drop out. That's strange, because I anticipate that could end up being 10% or more, as the progressive enthusiasm to help Barry wears off and the bills come due! |
