Everything that can be done to get the word out and to correct the false impressions left by the media, is a plus. And apparently there is still interest in the case (and the wrongs perpetrated by a DA in trying to win a corrupt prosecution). Which means, that Duke's PR notwithstanding, the case is not going to fade away. Neither will Duke's own actions just be forgotten; because they'll have to be raised (at the very least, the FERPA actions) along with Nifong's. How much better it would have been for Duke--"best for Duke"-- if the school had bucked the temporary tide and sided with the truth, and with morality and justice. Maybe the trustees ought to take a look at how Brodhead's actions--"each step of the way" turned out to harm the school more than save it from temporary bad PR. (MOO) |
