Another robbery reported at Duke Gardens
Thursday, July 25, 2013

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Duke police are investigating an armed robbery reported at Duke Gardens Thursday, which is the second robbery this month at the public gardens.

A woman was robbed near the Lewis Street entrance to Duke Gardens at 12:55 p.m., according to police.

Police are searching for two suspects. The first suspect is described as a man with dark complexion, about 5'8" tall with a thin build. He is between 17-20 years old and was wearing a black shirt, black pants and a hat or rag on his head.

The second suspect has a medium complexion and is about 5'11" tall with a medium build. He is also described as being about 17-20 years old and was wearing black pants and a black shirt.

One suspect had a knife, and the other had a silver handgun. They were last seen heading from the Lewis Street area of Duke Gardens north toward Erwin Road.

The victim was not injured.

Police received today a sketch of the two suspects from the July 15 robbery. At this time, a link has not been established between the two incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Duke University Police Department at (919) 684-2444

So why don't they have surveillance cameras? It's not that expensive.

Think of how much has been spent on Kunshan and the university's Duke defense;
and compare that with the "value" of preventing someone --and especially, from Duke's point of
view (acting as en loco parentis)-- a Duke student--
from being harmed.

(How many cameras could be had for $100 million?)
