CBS Post-Debate Poll: Romney Wallops Obama On Economy 65-34%

CBS News did a post-debate poll that showed Obama winning the overall debate 37-30% among uncommitted voters, but in the most important area -- the economy -- Romney massacred the president by over 30 points, 65-34%.

Among undecided voters, the economy is the only question that matters; it's a question that matters a whole lot more than who won the debate.

Moreover, if all Obama could muster was 37%, he didn't even capture his base.

Post-Debate CNN Poll: Romney Buries Obama On Economy

Like the CBS poll, Obama won the overall debate, 46-39%, but Romney beat him senseless on all the important individual issues like the economy, health care, deficit, and taxes.

Unlike the CBS poll, CNN polled registered voters, not just undecideds.

Economy: Romney wins 58-40%

Health care: Romney wins 49-46%.

Taxes: Romney wins 51-44%.

Deficit: Romney wins 49-36%.

Strong leader: Romney wins 49-46%.

The worst news is that 25% of voters switched their vote to Romney and 25% wen to Obama.

In other words, Obama didn't move the ball, which is what he needed to do.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/10/16/Crowley-Saves-Obama-with-false-fact-check

Crowley's False Fact Check Saves President, Derails Debate - UPDATE: Crowley Backtracks

***UPDATE 4: Politico's Dylan Byers: "After the debate, even Crowley seemed to acknowledge that she had erred."

***UPDATE 3: Even Politico's Mike Allen is questioning Crowley's call.

***UPDATE 2: Even Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler says Crowley got it wrong: Obama "did not say terrorism."

***UPDATE: After the debate, Anderson Cooper was the first member of the CNN post debate group to question whether or not Romney really got the Libya issue wrong. They then brought Crowley on and after all the damage she had done during the debate, she finally admitted that Romney was "right" but "picked the wrong word."

Romney "picked the wrong word!" And for that sin the the referee ran onto the field and tackled the other guy!

This is a scandal; a total and complete media scandal committed by a woman who promised to violate her contract and to insert herself into the debate. All she did for weeks was brag about how she intended to grab the spotlight -- and boy did she ever.

Absolutely disgraceful.

***********

We're done with the second presidential debate, but it was apparent 45 minutes in that between the questions Crowley chose and her handling of who was allowed to speak and when, that this debate was a total and complete setup to rehabilitate Barack Obama.

If these are truly undecided voters, they're apparently undecided between Obama and the Green Party. Moreover, as I write this, Obama's already enjoyed four more minutes of speaking time than Romney. In a ninety-minute debate, that's a big deal.

The lowest and most dishonest part of Crowley's disgraceful "moderation" was when she actually jumped into the debate to take Obama's side when the issue of Benghazi came up. To cover for his and his administration's lying for almost two weeks about the attack coming as the result of a spontaneous protest over a YouTube video, Obama attempted to use as cover the claim that he had called the attack a "terrorist attack" on that very first day during his Rose Garden statement.

Romney correctly disputed that.

Crowley, quite incorrectly, took Obama's side and the crowd exploded.

Here's what Obama said that day:

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.

Context matters and the context here is that Obama connected this "act of terror" to … a mob action over a YouTube video -- not a deliberate terrorist attack. Obama was using the term generically and it would be almost two weeks before he used it again.

Let's not forget that Susan Rice said declaratively on the five Sunday shows four days later that it was NOT an act of terror.

And during those two weeks the Obama administration lied like a rug. For Crowley to step in and attempt to correct Romney on a statement that is at best arguable, was completely out of line. The debate over this debate has only begun.

going back to oil, weren't some of those licenses he gave out awarded to Brazil to drill offshore in Gulf of Mexico, while prohibiting US oil from doing the same?

The CNN poll is a joke.

Remember CNN's poll after the first debate. It was almost universally
accepted by both sides of the political spectrum that the President had done
very poorly in that first debate, and yet CNN's poll that night was 48-46 Romney.
Only a two point win for Romney when everyone admitted that Obama was
unprepared and gave a lackluster performance.

And now it's supposedly 46-39 Obama. Presumably, 15% of their biased
polling won't pick a winner?

It's a joke.

I have a slight recollection of that.

AND,

There was that question:

Governor, how are you different from George W. Bush?

Keeping in mind that all questions were chosen by Crowley, how is it possible for Obama to respond to that? He had two free and clear minutes to say whatever he wanted.

Luntz is a very good at getting at getting to real sentiment. He is also very honest & he can tell you exactly what is happening with public opinion. He doesn't push a Republican talking point.

These were undecided voters from Nevada which is considered a swing state. They listened to the debate. It was an overwhelming swing from them to Romney.

Of course Obama lied & obfuscated his way through the debate. What else could he do? It isn't a real debate anyway as they really don't debate facts. Those facts are in Romney's corner.

Frankly I don't care what most pundits are saying from either side. This is the focus group result which will propel Romney to a win in 3 weeks. These undecided voters, many who voted for Obama in 2008, tell me the undecided voters are going to swing to Romney at least by a 70-30% margin.

I thought about that, but then recalled the question to Barry on why one should vote for him again.

That's on Fox. I doubt if many were planted, but the left will be certain they were. I suppose that doesn't change what the result show, and I hope they're accurate.

just FYI followup
Permit to Brazil while denying US companies

Obama Gives Gulf Oil Drilling Permit to Brazil; Continues To Deny American Permits

Quote:

MARCH 22, 2011 15 COMMENTS
President Obama has finally agreed to a permit allowing deep sea drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. We should be rejoicing right? Not exactly. The purpose of the President’s bizarre trip to Brazil has finally come to light. He couldn’t stay home to explain to the American people why he was starting a war against Libya because he was in Brazil to hand out a drilling permit to state run Petrobras. So there will now be new drilling in the Gulf of Mexico but no American company need apply. Only foreign companies are being granted permits by the Obama administration, if they’re state run they get fast tracked.
