Just a little food for thought here on what Romney might mention, sense he has openly stated he would fire Ben at the Federal Reserve if elected....

National Income and Product Accounts
Gross Domestic Product: Second Quarter 2012 (third estimate);
Corporate Profits: Second Quarter 2012 (revised estimate)

Real gross domestic product -- the output of goods and services produced by labor and property located in the United States -- increased at an annual rate of 1.3 percent in the second quarter of 2012 (that is, from the first quarter to the second quarter), according to the "third" estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the first quarter, real GDP increased 2.0 percent.

The GDP estimate released today is based on more complete source data than were available for the "second" estimate issued last month. In the second estimate, the increase in real GDP was 1.7 percent (see "Revisions" on page 3).

The increase in real GDP in the second quarter primarily reflected positive contributions from personal consumption expenditures (PCE), exports, nonresidential fixed investment, and residential fixed investment that were partly offset by negative contributions from private inventory investment and state and local government spending. Imports, which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, increased.

The deceleration in real GDP in the second quarter primarily reflected decelerations in PCE, in nonresidential fixed investment, and in residential fixed investment that were partly offset by smaller decreases in federal government spending and in state and local government spending and an acceleration in exports.

CONSUMER PRICE INDEX – AUGUST 2012
The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.6 percent in August on a seasonally adjusted basis, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 1.7 percent before seasonal adjustment.

snip

...increased at an annual rate of 1.3 percent
...reflected positive contributions from personal consumption expenditures (PCE)
...deceleration in real GDP in the second quarter primarily reflected decelerations in PCE

...increased 1.7 percent

Note we're consuming less at a higher price!

..1.3 percent
- 1.7 percent

That leaves us a negative 0.04 percent

I have not seen this comparison noted in the news. I have not actually looked, but you'd think there'd be a few headlines noting this.

Of course if one does not want to be influenced by what one sees on TV, listen to the debate on radio. A different perspective. Can hear more hems and haws and stutters.

The biggest mistake Romney can make is to take on that whiny, tattletale (ie 'Anderson he's talking. It's my turn now") affect which drove me crazy during the primary debates.

I hate it when Obama brings up Bill Clinton!

Obama keeps repeating that Romney wants a $5T tax cut! And $2T that the military hasn't even asked for. Romney has had to refute it several times!

Yes, Romney is doing great - hope he keeps it up. Obama is boring and we've heard the same rhetoric in the past: corporate welfare, education, medicaid.

Obama isn't in control. Romney forceful and controlling the debate. Lehrer is weak.
