. Polls must be closer than the last reported. Top of the Hour news - Dems in Missouri have formally filed Ethics charges against Akin. They would not do this at this late hour - if they weren't scared. They don't beat dead snakes in Missouri. . |

He has Santorum and Gingrich backing him now. Like I had said, he'll get funding, just not from the GOP through the front door. |

You may be thinking of the Senate campaign funds. Maybe DeMint is in charge of it. |

DeMint is involved with a Conservative Senate PAC which is thinking of funding Akin. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2012/09/26/demint-endorses-akin-seting-up-unlikely-alliance/ Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) endorsed Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin on Wednesday, giving Akin his first potential big-money endorsement and setting up an unlikely coalition. DeMint’s endorsement was announced alongside that of former presidential candidate Rick Santorum by Santorum’s Patriot Voices PAC. “We support Todd Akin and hope freedom-loving Americans in Missouri and around the country will join us so we can save our country from fiscal collapse,” DeMint and Santorum said in a joint statement. DeMint’s own PAC, the Senate Conservatives Fund, has also made clear in recent days that it is leaning toward endorsing Akin, thought it has not officially done so. The endorsement, for now, is just a personal one from DeMint. If and when SCF does back Akin, though, it should help him raise significantly more money in his uphill battle to repair his image in the Missouri Senate race. Akin has struggled since remarking last month that “legitimate rape” rarely causes pregnancy (a remark he has repeatedly apologized for), and national Republicans and top GOP super PACs quickly pulled their support for the duration of the race in hopes it would force Akin to drop out. The deadline for him to do that passed on Tuesday, meaning it’s now official Akin will appear on the ballot in November. But by earning DeMint’s endorsement and, if he does, the Senate Conservatives Fund’s backing, Akin should be able to raise more money and could benefit from some independent expenditure ads run by the PAC — which could help offset the lack of national GOP money. |

Looks like Akin just got a boost. Missouri, the state where it seems the candidates want to give it away.. Never underestimate how bad Sen. Claire McCaskill is. Akin accuses McCaskill's husband. Akin chides gov't money tied to McCaskill's spouse JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Businesses affiliated with the husband of Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill received almost $40 million of federal subsidies for low-income housing developments during her first five years in office. McCaskill's Republican challenger, Todd Akin, claims the payments represent a "conflict of interest and a breach of trust" with voters. McCaskill says "the accusation is terribly unfair and distorted." McCaskill's financial reports show her husband, Joseph Shepard, earned between $400,000 and $2.6 million in income from the businesses that received federal payments from 2007 through 20011. McCaskill voted for some, but not all, of the bills that funded the federal housing and agriculture departments, which provide the housing subsidies. McCaskill says many of those housing contracts existed before she won election in 2006, and much of the income came from non-government sources....snipped http://www.abc3340.com/story/19775138/feds-paid-40m-to-firms-tied-to-mccaskills-spouse |
