When I was going through Infintry training in the Marines I was one step away from stepping on three copperhead snakes. We were on a compass patrol, I was the fire team leader, looking at the compass. Then a fellow Marine in the fire team told me by name "don't move" I immediately stopped midstep. I looked down and my next step would have been on top of 3 copperheads that were sleeping. We all stepped back and went around them. I could only imagine what would have happened if I had stepped on the sleeping snakes, my only hope had I done so would have been that they bit into my leather boots and not punctured my skin. I learned then when ever you are in nature you have to be aware of your surroundings, these children certainly did not.

Sometimes people can’t see the forest for the trees.

The PS22 children grew up and attend public school on Staten Island. And as I remember, when I last visited the island, there weren’t many trees, let alone forests. However, that was nearly a half century ago. So, maybe things have changed. But I must say the chairs in the chorus room look familiar. The real story here is a teacher named Mr. Gregg Breinberg and a dozen successive groups of everyday ten year olds who achieved more than anyone imagined. Gregg started the chorus back in September 2000, long before Mr. Obama became president. For many it would be enough to say they became an internet sensation in 2006, and their musical fame continues to grow. But that’s only a small part of the story.

According to their principal, Mrs. Melissa Donath, “Test scores and grades of the 10- and 11-year-old warblers have soared.” When ask to explain their success, Mr. B explained:

It’s all about self-confidence. That is what the arts have to offer, especially to kids that aren’t necessarily succeeding academically. Throughout their chorus experience, my students recognize that their musical achievements are something they earn for themselves through hard work and dedication. That is a life lesson that does not restrict itself to music.

Kids that are musical and not necessarily mathematically inclined can digest mathematical concepts musically that they might not be able to in math class. The two subjects are definitely related, and I’ve seen many a light bulb go on when teaching fractions through rhythm, from the same kids that were just not getting it otherwise.

Focus, concentration, and stamina are undeniably strengthened as well. Music and the arts are just the tool to unlock the hidden potential, and as it manifests, it carries over to all other areas of school and hopefully ultimately life.

The low participation rate by white males was not by design, but rather a function of demographics and choice. Participation in chorus is voluntary. But please note there have been white male singers in previous classes. So, we must ask, “Is there a political question here?” Yes, but it's not out in the woods.

By incurring 6 trillion dollars in additional debt, Mr. Obama has mortgaged their future. This week, the President must explain to the American people where the money went. He spent real dollars, and swing state voters want real answers.

You must get out your Angry Studies Textbook.

It's about how it makes the six year old white kid watching Nick or Animal Planet feel.

We must provide incentives. We must foster an atmosphere where the White Male children are celebrated and embraced.

Why do Diversity Champions think this is how diversity looks?

The Angry Studies Text says first and foremost, you should suspect discrimination. I think we should be consistent.
