Well Mason, I sense you now have the answer to WHY others did not go directly at Obama ...they were saving it for Ryan.
.
Yes.

I am very Happy with Ryan.

It was unfinished business that Ryan closed out.

.
I had not anticipated Ryan to go after Obama so directly, and was sure Romney wouldn't.

I sense the plan is for Ryan to continue with the direct challenges to Barry. Ryan handles them better and it keeps the negative light off of Romney.

during Paul Ryan's speech, when he mentioned repealing Obamacare, there was some kind of disruption up by the family's seats. Two women had unfurled banners or flags and stood facing Mrs. Ryan . . . .

the camera only focused there for a brief shot, twice, (I was watching on C-SPAN so don't know if networks used same camera feed) - did anyone else notice that?

Condi Rice's speech was not on the teleprompter. She did it by her notes.
I just heard chris "tingles" mathews say that he thought Candi's speech was really weak. The other two talking heads disagreed with tingles.
:roflmao: :roflmao:

Tingles is such a hack!

Condi was great!

I thought it may have been Code Pink. I saw a Flash of that bright Pink.

Ryan is a better campaigner than I dreamed he was. I want him to debate Biden AND Barry!

I loved how he went after Obamacare, helping the people understand the simple story of what the Obama crew stole from Medicare.

I was disappointed he did NOT

....finish what he started in explaining Medicare and how it relates to Obamacare before the next decade even gets here, and

...WHY they stole from Medicare in the first place.
This is what I would have loved for Ryan to include, where I feel he fell short with such a prime opportunity of so many watching. (I held off being specific until I could quote some references for what I am writing about)

After Ryan explained that Barry & Crew stole $700+ billion from Medicare for Obamacare, he should have, at the minimum, told them the following:

The short version:
.... how it relates to Obamacare before the next decade even gets here

What Barry stole from Medicare - he called it “savings” - was an amount to be applied over the next decade, BUT we know medicare will go broke in EIGHT YEARS.

and

...WHY they stole from Medicare in the first place

The other option for funding was MORE tax increases in which he knew he could not get the votes for, so they hid the taxes and fabricated “savings” in more than 2,700 pages of convoluted gibberish nobody could decipher in the few days allowed before it was passed.

The longer version would have noted this:
  • Medicare Trustees Say Main Fund Will Go Broke In 8 Years
Underscoring the urgency of the current push in Washington to rein in skyrocketing health care costs, Medicare's trustees warned Tuesday that the program's biggest fund would run out of money in just eight years.
The prediction - issued in an annual report on Medicare and Social Security finances - offered the bleakest assessment of Medicare's future in years and reflects growing concern among policy experts that the nation's health care spending is unsustainable.

and
  • Bankrupting The Industry
…a 2010 analysis by Medicare chief actuary Richard Foster. He said then that roughly 15 percent of hospitals and nursing homes that provide Medicare services could "become unprofitable" over a decade — not necessarily go out of business — thanks to cuts in payments from the government under the health care law.
….According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, Medicare over time would spend thousands less per senior under the Ryan plan than under current policy.

And then Barry wants the Death Committee to weigh benefits against costs; limit what care old folks may get against how much longer they estimate old folks may live.

Medicare is going broke.
Barry has not done anything to solve that.
Barry has actually stolen time from it.
The hospitals will go broke under his plan.
The doctors will go broke under his plan.

The SOB serving as POTUS has fabricated imaginary savings and cut money from the sinking ship to fund a program that raises the costs of healthcare for all others across the country …mainly the middle class and younger generation the idiot wants you to believe he is helping.

He has created more problems to solve later, not solving any now. He hopes the administration after 2016 will solve his problems and make him out to be a hero.

Surely Ryan could have found at least a couple minutes more to explain some of that. It seems simple and very important to me!

Other than that, I loved hearing all Ryan had to say.

ADD: Next week I expect Ryan to explain what Obamacare would do in its second decade!

Ryan was electrifying. But I have been thinking about the differences between certain demographics. To over-simplify...Obama is the King of the Grasshoppers. Most people I know are Ants.

Ants work because they LIKE to work. Think about the average R voter you know...they WORK.

I know a young woman who cleans houses and her husband works three jobs. Republican.

I know a single, woman who is in her sixties and supports herself as a manicurist, does Nail Shows for a product line and runs some of the biggest fundraisers in our City. Republican.

I know men who joined the Guard or did a second job on the weekends to better their families. Republican.

" Corporate Wives" who run charities for no pay. Kids working three jobs to pay for grad school.

All those inspiring stories last night were about people who had a WORK ETHIC.

But the Dems are appealing to the Union worker who wants to do the bare minimum and get that paycheck. If they can get some Freebies from Uncle Sam just for breathing.. they love Obama for doing that. If Obama takes it from the Grasshoppers...all the better. That proves they are wily and smart to be lazy.

Dems are appealing to people who could care less about "an opportunity"...they want a handout. Those speeches last night were meaningless because they all involved WORK to get ahead. No, they want the King of the Grashoppers to TAKE so they can live off the sweat or intellect of others.

THAT is the "fairness" of the Dems. That's the huge issue of our time. Are our hard working children to be in the government YOKE to work hard so others can suck off their effort?

Empathy? Charity? Not for those who refuse to help themselves. Obama is the King of the Grasshoppers...the High Priest of Handouts. A Guy who was GIVEN an aura of excellence he never earned. (where are those GRADES?)

But appealing to this Demographic is useless for Republicans.Talking about "opportunity" to the lazy Left is a waste of breath..

The speeches at the convention are excellent and reflect great coordination. There was a great deal of thought given to the speeches and the speakers and how all comes together as a whole.

The speakers were diverse but had much in common. Women governors, an African-American disillusioned with the Obama "hope and change" stuff, speakers who mention their ethnic heritage and family, Hispanics such as Ted Cruz speaking of achieving the American Dream. There was an over-all theme of struggle and success and optimism within the specific theme of each night.

On Tuesday night, Santorum spoke of life; Ann Romney spoke of love; Christie spoke of respect; and Artur Davis spoke of wisdom gained. Life, love, respect, wisdom. There was no biting criticism of the President because these very positive themes of virtue took center stage.

Ryan's speech took the gloves off at Obama.

I flipped through channels after Paul Ryan's speech and the criticism of him was that Ryan had voted for large government programs such as the prescription drug program and TARP.

Ryan will have to answer to his past voting record. He voted as a loyal Republican -- perhaps that is the only way to move up in the ranks is by being loyal. Perhaps, now, with the rise of the Ron Paul philosophy and the Tea Party, he learned that the public was now concerned with debt and deficit and ready to accept serious and adult budgets.

As far as blame for the debt Christie said, There is plenty of blame to go around.

There is only talk of reducing debt by tackling entitlements. I'd like to hear that many more things are on the table for cuts, such as some of the big bureaucracies (i.e. the Dept. of Education).

My favorite Ryan line was the one about the faded Obama poster handing in a college graduates childhood room.

TARP is not a very good choice for liberal commentators searching for something to complain about. It was loans, of which the vast majority was recovered. It was the second phase of TARP, under Obama, that has problems.

It's an illusion of cover in response to the Stimulus, and it does not work.

Condi has the best line of the night (actually she had a couple) when she talked about this young child who could not go to the movie house or eat in a hamburger joint in a segregated city in Alabama but her parents told her that she could still end up as president of the USA and did end up as secretary of state. Powerful, absolutely powerful.

I loved New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez!

...New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez tried to reach out to both Latino voters and the GOP base Wednesday with a speech that touched on her heritage and brought delegates to their feet with a story about packing a .357-magnum pistol as an 18-year-old helping out her parents’ security company

“En America, todo es posible,” she said towards the beginning. She also recounted her parents’ old security guard business, which gave her the job of guarding the parking lot at Catholic church bingos. “I carried a Smith & Wesson .357 magnum,” Ms. Martinez said to one of the louder cheers during her speech.

Warming up delegates for the appearance of vice-presidential nominee Rep. Paul Ryan, Ms. Martinez described the lunch with local GOP officials that caused to her to leave the Democratic Party when she was mounting a bid for district attorney.

Afterwards, she looked at her husband, Chuck, and said, “I’ll be damned, we’re Republicans.”...snipped

What a bright shining star for the Republican future!

Now she would be a great Attorney General!

Were I Romney, I'd open up pointing out how valuable the team is, which makes it a sure fire problem to speak last. It's a tough bunch of acts to follow!

So true!

My hairdresser is an example of a woman who is hardworking and a Republican through and through. She has steadily built up a client base. She cleans the salon where she rents her booth on Sundays and mans the phone for the salon on her day off. She is also taking care of her mother who has early onset Alzheimers. She would no more take a handout than fly to the moon.
