Bastardi thinks this will intensify rapidly according to his models at Weatherbell. But he admits he could be wrong. He believes in historical models and has said that Tampa was never really a target because a major Hurricane hits there once in 150 years.

One thing we know is Hurricanes go where Nature decides.

Lots of dry air entraining into the storm on the east side.

I don't see an eye of the storm which, I think, means it is not well organized at this point.

As far as the convention, the Republicans should carry on as it would otherwise and leave the hurricane preparations/concerns in the capable hands of the Republican governors at least until more is learned about the tropical storm/hurricane. If the media asks questions regarding the hurricane to the convention staff, why not refer them to the governors of the states which may be affected. It's in the states' domain right now.

So Ernesto was 65 mph at 1007. Yesterday this was 65 mph at 996 today its 65 mph at 984 go figure hurricane now in my book
Euro implications for MSY extrems stalls hurricane near city tom night and wed .. 1-2 feet of rain, siege of wind, ugly

MSY = Maximum Sustainable Yield

Don't know what Euro implications means.

But pressure is dropping in eye.

The weakest hurricane is a category one hurricane with winds ranging from 74 to 95 miles per hour and a barometric pressure greater than 980 millibars. The strongest category of hurricanes is a five on the Saffir-Simpson scale with winds greater than 155 miles per hour and a barometric pressure less than 920 millibars.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/08/26/chuck_todd_shadow_of_bush_and_katrina_hangs_over_gop_convention_.html

"NBC's Chuck Todd tries to tie Hurricane Katrina and former President George W. Bush to the GOP convention in Tampa. From Sunday's edition of NBC's Nightly News: "There are folks with the Romney campaign who think, 'Boy, Romney can't catch a break ever since he named Paul Ryan. He got a little momentum after the Ryan pick and then he's disrupted by two storms. One, a political storm in Todd Akin which we just brought up. But now an actual storm, and when you think when this storm moves to and closer to Louisiana, the specter, the sort of shadow of Bush and Katrina does hang over this convention. It is something organizers are concerned about and don't be surprised if Tuesday gets changed again.""

Well, this is from MSNBC/NBC so what does one expect.

It seems the media will insist on pre-empting the aims of the Republican convention with their narrative regarding Katrina and Bush.

IMO, it would be best to deflect all questions about the storm to the capable Republican governors who are the ones in charge and are more capable than the Democratic governor of Louisiana when Katrina hit. (Would the people rather have Jindal in charge than whoever the governor of Louisiana was when Katrina hit? I would.)

The Republicans can show sensitivity to the potential victims of the storm by having a moment of prayer or having prayer teams and perhaps, if conditions warrant, setting up a fund for victims. Having said that, the convention has business to conduct and it should conduct it.

I understand Cardinal Dolan is giving the benediction. Prayer will be good for all around.

Tropical Storm Isaac cutting path eerily similar to Hurricane Katrina

KEY WEST, Fla. – Tropical Storm Isaac is gaining strength and cutting a path through the Gulf of Mexico that's eerily similar to the catastrophic Hurricane Katrina, which devastated New Orleans and the region nearly seven years ago to the day.

Isaac’s potential landfall as a Category 1 hurricane as early as Tuesday prompted evacuations along a wide area of the Gulf Coast and sent people out to stock up on staples. As of 11 a.m. EDT Monday, Isaac remained a tropical storm with top sustained winds of 65 mph. Its center was about 310 miles southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River, and it was moving northwest at 14 mph.

Isaac barreled past the Florida Keys and was rolling northwestward over the open Gulf of Mexico on Monday. The National Hurricane Center predicted it would grow to a hurricane with winds of between 74 and 95 mph over the warm water and possibly hit sometime Tuesday somewhere along a roughly 300-mile stretch from the bayous southwest of New Orleans to the edge of the Florida Panhandle.

Tuesday would be one day shy of seven years after Katrina struck catastrophically in 2005, although Katrina was a much stronger Category 5 storm with winds in excess of 157 miles per hour. Isaac is expected to have top winds of around 90 mph when it hits land.

Samuel L. Jackson asks why GOP 'spared' by tropical storm

Samuel L. Jackson on Monday tweeted it was "unfair" that Tropical Storm Isaac had spared the GOP convention in Tampa and appeared to be heading for New Orleans.

Jackson said in a profanity-filled tweet that he was "not understanding God's plan" given the fact that the storm was not disrupting the Republican gathering.

Unfair s---," the Oscar-nominated actor known for his colorful language said on Twitter.

"GOP spared by Isaac! NOLA prolly f----- again!"

Less than a half-hour later, Jackson apologized for the earlier tweet, writing that it had stirred up a hornet's nest. "Apologies to God, Tampa, da GOP& Isaac(sp)! Who played the Race card?!," he said on Twitter. ..snipped

It is truly sickening that we have come to the point & time when these fools actually feel they can say these things publicly.

Shameful, and I like Samuel Jackson's movies.

Should we all tweet prayers for a tornado to strike the DNC?

The Hollywood Losers have gone from unbridled Glee (when it was headed toward Tampa), to now stuck in the mud because they want to exploit the New Orleans Minority stuff.

I don't know how much water it carries, but it is a Cat 1. at this time.

I guess it never dawns on them that 5 million of people live in the Tampa area, but screw those 3,000 delegates.

Shall we say, Hate consumes them?
