What's the DNC paying this "fluke"? She has become the most useful idiot the administration has and now the conversation is still below the belt. The Republicans need to stop it in its tracks. This election is not about reproduction, birth control, abortion nor erectile dysfunction. Darnit, this election is about the socialist policies of Barack Obama, our growing deficit, the lack of faith in our economy and in this administration to set the ship of state straight and Obama's failure to deliver on his promises of the 2008 election. If the Republicans allow this twit to take control of the message, we will lose and probably deserve to. |

I agree!. Of course our objections to Fluke's remarks are valid, as is the double standard of Rangel, Kennedy, and every Jackass remark. However that isn't the point. Nobody is going to convince the left or right. The polls have stayed consistent for months split between Obama & Romney. We are fighting over voter turnout & independents. That is why they are trotting out Fluke to motivate the young women vote. It plays, especially in media time. Romney & Ryan are targeting the economy, that is our winning message. We are off message now for about 4 days. That's 4 days lost with 76 days to go, That's about 5 %. Get on target. Get rid of Akin. Abortion is not the issue. It's the economy.. There is a 5 alarm fire burning in our economy. BTW I finally understand Akin's constituency as Missouri has about 36% Evangelicals. That's his support and backing. He forgot he is now on a national stage running for US Senator. He could say those things as a Congressman. They could replace Akin with Sarah Steelman as she has the same objection to abortion but isn't so dumb to talk about a woman & legitimate rape shutting down a pregnancy. Sorry for my rant. I do understand the upset over abortion. We have to win! Edited by Baldo, Aug 22 2012, 06:23 PM.

Well I guess the democrats have prioritized sex over survival. After all, who better to set an agenda than a democrat. I will expect the republicans to become manly after the convention. KAPOW. If not, we lose. |

Exactly, if not, this may be our last democratic election in our history. Wish we had a boombox of Maggie Thatcher saying - "don't go wobbley on me" so that Romney could hear it 24/7. |

I will give you something personal to worry about if Obama wins. Our brilliant Congressional Republican Leaders agreed to the Budget Control Act of 2011 (Debt Ceiling Deal). On Aug. 2 2011 President Obama signed into law the Budget Control Act of 2011 (BCA). The bill allows the president to increase the debt ceiling by up to $2.8 trillion, but it will reduce the deficit by $2.3 trillion over 10 years, with at least $840 billion coming from discretionary spending cuts over the next decade. In the first year of enactment, fiscal year 2012, discretionary programs will see a cut of $44 billion (4 percent). There are two ways the federal deficit can be cut –through automatic “caps” on categories of spending or through a proposed budget hammered out by a “Super Committee” of 12 members of Congress. The automatic caps exempt some mandatory programs like Social Security, food stamps, and Medicare. However, no revenues would be raised to help retire the deficit. The Super Committee could cut any program or raise revenues...snipped What is sequestration? Sequestration is a mechanism through which automatic, across-the-board spending cuts are made. The BCA will initiate a sequestration if Congress approves spending higher than caps set forth in the law or if a plan from the Super Committee fails to become law....snipped http://www.ombwatch.org/files/budget/debtceilingfaq.pdf Additional the Bush Tax cuts end Dec 31,2012. This means your taxes will raise automatically. Every income level goes up.the lowest 10% goes up to 15%. Capital gains goes up, Corporate tax goes up, Inheritance tax goes up. The average family will see as $2000 increase. This means you. The Sequestration cuts are aimed mainly at the Defense Budget. Do you see what is going to happen? Obama wins, he doesn't have to do anything and he gets higher taxes & his dream of large cuts in Defense Spending. We would need 60 votes in the Senate & control of the House to override a veto. He is guarantee four more years and there is nothing we can do. Worse what happens if he gets to appoint another 2 or 3 Supremes. There goes the Scotus for 20 years, a liberal body. Do you think they will do anything about abortion but probably make us all pay for it on demand? Mission Accomplished and the dumb Republicans agreed to it so they could win the election. But what if we don't win? That is why I am upset at Akin. The man isn't looking at the potential damage he is doing. Edited by Baldo, Aug 22 2012, 08:43 PM.

I am not opposed to going into a serious depression to solve our economic problems. Starting over may allow us to repave the road to success. Moo |

. Thanks - both of you. Gold Star to Rusty! On O'Reilly, they had two women Dems on saying of Akin, but this is how Republicans think. Why didn't the host ask them about the DEM politician having sex with a 17 yr old in the bushes at a Truck Stop - off a Craigslist Ad? Why? Republicans Roll over. The DEMS decide what the issues will be - and the Republicans play along. . Edited by Mason, Aug 22 2012, 11:01 PM.

http://www.democrats.org/?nosplash=true Click on no. 2 of the top banner picture. This is just ridiculous: the top of the main Democratic Party web page showing a picture of Romney, Ryan, and Akin all in a row, with the headline: "THE GOP IS DANGEROUSLY WRONG FOR WOMEN" Boy do they play dirty. The bigger "nightmare" is a shift in national focus from the economy to abortion. Just enough to disrupt the campaign for the undecided votes, the grass roots base that campaign, those who get out to vote ....the momentum necessary to win the votes. |

Exactly. The Dem machine with their mass media allies are exploiting this even more than I thought they would, and it appears to be effective. And this clown Akin is still just thinking about himself. In the end, he will do great harm to the pro-life cause. What a guy. Edited by MikeZPU, Aug 23 2012, 11:24 AM.

I agree with what you are all saying..except I do not think this issue has staying power in regard to the National election. I think at this juncture most women are worried about jobs, their jobs, their husband's jobs, whether their kids can get jobs or they will have to support them and pay their student loans....whether they will need to support the Grandparents if they get sick. It is a small number who would put the worry that they cannot get an abortion ABOVE economic security right now. This will hurt the chances of a Senate takeover...but I don't think it will turn a Romney voter to Obama...or any truly "undecided." |
