In a strange twist, miscarriages are listed as a risk factor of a Domestic Violence situation. In fact, hospitals, social workers, and authorities are told to suspect or eliminate domestic violence when a woman has a miscarriage.

The Stress from a Domestic Violence situation causes miscarriages - but rape does not?

The women's centers say that VERBAL abuse causes miscarriages!

I get what you are saying Mason, but this is not the time to talk about double standards or the dead Ted Kennedy

We have an election, probably the most important in our lives. Every vote is crucial. Winning the Senate is crucial and winning the White House more important. We need to win that Senate Seat, we have to win the White House. It is just Akin's political future or the abortion issue at large. We are talking fairy-tales if he believes abortions are going to be banned in case of medical, rape, or incest. Sorry, it isn't going to happen.

I heard today the GOP Plank is going to include no abortions in all cases, including rape. Are they effing nuts! Nobody reads Party Platforms anymore, but I promise you because of Akin they will and the Dems are going to pound this hard as well at the MSM.

What was the on the hour top headline? Romney tells Akins to step aside and he was was joined by 4 other former Missouri Senators. This is growing as a national issue. Sure the MSM is pounding away.

But still this is a self-inflicted wound, caused by a man's ignorance and pride.

The bigger and more important issue is what if we don't win the White House. What if we don't win the Senate. Goodbye SCOTUS for two decades as Obama will appoint at least two more & we will finally have a runaway liberal court. Do you think they will overturn Roe v Wade? Worse what will they do?

This election is going to be fought for each & every vote. We must defeat Obama. Akin needs to go, now! He has already done enough damage.

What mechanism is there to remove Akin?

I thought if he missed the deadline, we were stuck with him?

I thought an alternative may be to educate people on Claire McCaskill.

They can have the courts kick him out. Not sure how but I believe that is the alternative.

No one does whats in platforms anymore, IMO. They are only there to appease the convention goers. Gives them a reason to vote on something.

The State GOP has until this Tuesday to put another candidate on the ballot instead of Akin, but to do that he must remove himself.

The State GOP can file and place another candidate on the ballot in addition to Akin but must pay the cost of the ballots for the State.

Coulter suggested

Republicans could still win this seat, especially by replacing Akin with Sarah Steelman, the Sarah Palin-endorsed candidate who came in a very close third in the primary. Right now, any of the other primary candidates would be a better bet than Akin. But an attractive, pro-life, Palin-endorsed Republican woman is a shoe-in to beat McCaskill. Especially after this.

Steelman could win, but another candidate could just make it easier for McCaskill to split the vote.

I don't know what they will do, but I doubt the Courts could remove Akin from the ballot. We are stuck with him unless he resigns from the race. I guess the fool doesn't care what he is doing to his Party and the ultimate goal of winning the WH & Senate

That splits the vote.

I think McCaskill automatically wins in she has two Republican opponents on the ballot.

Romney tells Akin to go

Mitt Romney, who as the GOP's presumptive presidential nominee is his party's de facto head, called on Tuesday for Rep. Todd Akin to drop out of the Missouri Senate race.

"Todd Akin's comments were offensive and wrong and he should very seriously consider what course would be in the best interest of our country. Today, his fellow Missourians urged him to step aside, and I think he should accept their counsel and exit the Senate race," Mr. Romney said in a statement from his campaign....snipped

Sen. Roy Blunt joins four former Missouri senators to call on Akin to step aside

Sen. Roy Blunt, a Republican from Missouri, has joined with four former GOP Missouri senators to call on Rep. Todd Akin to step out of his Senate race.

"We do not believe it serves the national interest for Congressman Todd Akin to stay in this race," Blunt said in a joint statement with former Sens. John Ashcroft, Kit Bond, John Danforth and Jim Talent. "The issues at stake are too big, and this election is simply too important. The right decision is to step aside." Blunt is the latest in a string of national Republicans asking Todd to step aside after he said Sunday that victims of "legitimate rape" rarely become pregnant and thus don't need access to abortion.

But Akin said on Mike Huckabee's radio show Tuesday afternoon that he doesn't plan on dropping out. "I believe we can win this," Akin said. He said he was unconcerned that the National Republican Senatorial Committee is withdrawing $5 million from his race, while outside conservative super PAC Crossroads GPS also plans to pull its support from him...snipped

And who would take the spot if Akin stepped down? How would that be determined? I read Steelman's wikipedia page and she endorsed John McCain in 2000 and 2008. Sarah Palin endorsed Steelman and Michele Bachmann had endorsed Akin. The people of Missouri may react negatively to any perceived heavy handiness on the part of the Republican establishment.

I don't think the so-called "war on women" is going to have any real traction. Akin's comments will distract for a while but smart strategists can fix that, IMO.

As far as the no exception for rape and incest rule regarding abortion in the Republican platform, newscasters today said that this rule is the same as in the Republican platforms of 2004 and 2008 so there is no change. Also, historically, the social issues and the pro-life stance of the Republicans have helped them win in national elections. Add to that a shift in the people to more of a pro-life stand.

Akin is still ahead in the polls according to a poll. It will be interesting to see if that remains the case.

I heard tonight on Fox News that the Republican establishment did not support him before Akin's unfortunate statements and that may explain the Republican "circular firing squad" which came out against him.

Rush Limbaugh today pointed out that Bill Clinton will give a big speech at the Democratic convention. Bill Clinton had been accused of rape in years past. The Democrat/feminists are hypocrites.

As far as scientific studies, the pro-lifers have suggested that studies show that abortion can contribute to breast cancer although this is disputed and is therefore a controversial topic.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1288955/Abortion-triple-risk-breast-cancer.html

"... There has been an 80 per cent increase in the rate of breast cancer since 1971, when in the wake of the Abortion Act, the number of abortions rose from 18,000 to nearly 200,000 a year.

Earlier this year, Dr Louise Brinton, a senior researcher with the U.S. National Cancer Institute who did not accept the link, reversed her position to say she was now convinced abortion increased the risk of breast cancer by about 40 per cent..."

At the end of the day, McCaskill will likely be the issue and I think the economy and Obamacare will be what the voters will be thinking about.

That's the Irony I'm talking about. Excellent.

The Rape groups, feminists, and Dems claim Verbal abuse causes miscarriage, but, now, Rape doesn't?

More of that irony.

How is this bigger than the Senate not doing a Budget for year after year.. after year?

This rates right up there with Kim Kardashian's Butt.
