Wonder if Valerie Jarret will be allowed to keep hers? I read in the NY Times today that she is afforded SS protection. THink of the outcry that would have occurred had Karl Rove been afforded such protection when he served as an advisor to Bush! |

comment or 2 from a 'Charlotte area person" ..... what we've heard ...(please, other CLT fill in) 2 sand sculptures (one at Ritz Carlton was built, then torn down for security reasons ???hide rocks in it??) other (yes, mount obama, weird face) was somewhat damaged by storm Sat night -- it is still 'intact' tstorm and heavy rain caused a few 'problems' uptown ----- Interesting to many is that NC Gov Bev Perdue (who announced would not run again) and her name are very conspicuously absent from any dnc mention. Most feel confident that 0 told her not to run again, perhaps a reason CLT was given convention????? Edited by DMom, Sep 3 2012, 06:42 AM.

A California delegate to the Democratic National Convention was hospitalized early this morning, after apparently falling unconscious in a hotel lobby following a night of drinking, while another delegate became confrontational with hotel staff and has since left the delegation, a party official said. snip Flores said two men were involved in an incident early this morning in the lobby of the Blake Hotel, where the California delegation is staying. He declined to identify either man or to say where they are from. "Oftentimes at conventions, people who have not seen each other for a long time gather and sometimes people have too much to drink," Flores said. "That appears to have been the case here, and we're gathering more information." Later, in a statement, Flores said the delegate who was not hospitalized became disruptive with hotel staff and emergency responders, prompting hotel staff to call police. He said the delegate was not arrested but was asked by the state party to leave the hotel and to not partake in convention activities. The statement said the delegate apologized to hotel staff and agreed to "forgo official delegation activities." http://blogs.sacbee.com/capitolalertlatest/2012/09/california-democrat-hospitalized-after-night-of-drinking-official-says.html

The delegates won't be voting in NC. But the residents who are certain to be abused by them WILL vote. Yep... I predict that NC will swing back home to conservativism. That has always been HOME to the state that insisted on the Bill of RIGHTS. |

http://news.yahoo.com/charlotte-america-capitalism-real-religion-032700516.html In Charlotte, as in America, Capitalism is the Real Religion Obama Makes His Stand in a Town Where Business Rules COMMENTARY | CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Back in the '70s, before the NBA's Charlotte Hornets and the NFL's Carolina Panthers came along, before Bank of America became the most beloved corporation in America, my hometown was known for three things: 'Racin, 'Rasslin and Religion. Back then, NASCAR and pro wrestling were held in tiny towns and venues, and evangelicals still held their revivals in huge circus tents on the outskirts of town instead of megachurches. ESPN, Ted Turner and the PTL Club changed all that. The Washington Post once called Charlotte "the city that never wakes." But really, we are the city that loves business. Don't be fooled by the buckle of the Bible belt stuff. It's a smokescreen. Business, not religion, is the god here. Trust me. We took our entertainment, the three Rs, and turned them into gold. And then we started buying banks and didn't stop until we had gotten two of the biggest in America, too big to fail. That's what they were protesting in Charlotte this weekend—the city's banking practices. Now, with Charlotte's crowning moment, the Democratic National Convention, only a day away, what Barack Obama needs to understand is that Charlotte is first and foremost a corporate town, a Wall Street Journal town, a commerce town. More than any other town in America that I know of, Charlotte's yardstick is money. There is no state government here, no big-name university, no labor unions—the normal tripod of liberal politics. In picking Charlotte, Obama chose the town most likely to rebel at any thought of government regulation. snip.... |

Those crazy delegates from California. http://news.yahoo.com/democrat-ejected-impersonating-congressman-165006576.html Democrat ejected for impersonating congressman AFP – 1 hr 53 mins ago A delegate from California has been turfed out of the Democratic convention for allegedly lying to police and claiming to be a member of Congress after a late-night drunken incident. The delegate reportedly returned to his hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina after partying hard on Saturday night with another man who had to be carried in and was placed unconscious on the floor of the lobby. Paramedics were called, and when police showed up the delegate allegedly lied, saying he was a congressman to try to persuade police that the other man, who had had too much to drink, should be allowed to sleep it off in his hotel room. Asked to show his credentials, the delegate's lie was exposed. The unconscious man was taken to hospital but later released. The delegate, who was not arrested, was asked on Sunday to end his participation in the convention. "Oftentimes at conventions, people who have not seen each other for a long time gather and sometimes people have too much to drink," party spokesman Tenoch Flores told the Sacramento Bee. Democratic delegates from across the United States are converging on Charlotte to formally nominate Barack Obama as the party's presidential candidate in November against Republican challenger Mitt Romney. By the time of the vote, the DNC's total delegates may have shrunk to negligible numbers :0 Wouldn't that be funny ? People around here are FURIOUS at the sand sculpture designed to inspire such awe and worship. What's it supposed to mean, anyway? Is he vying for a tie with Rushmore, or the Mayans? I declare that man is a legend in his own mind. I hope we can give him a reality check in Novemenber. But I would be proud if North Carolinians would speed it up in Charlotte. Nobody I know plans to fly through Charlotte this week. I've been avoiding it as much as I could because HIs Eminence face has been plastered all over the place for months. Whoever choose NC for this convention didn't do Obama any favors. I don't know if he could go into more hostile territory. Nascar doesn't like him. Conservatives don't like him Christians don't like him Sanctity of life advocates don't like him. Sanctity of marriage advocates don't like him. Looks like he would have wanted to go somewhere more in tune with his own philosophy. Maybe California? They need the business and he would have fit right in. Can't wait to see how Pelosi, Reid and Biden stack up against Rice, Rubio, and Ryan. Could we have a side by side of Mobama and Ann Romney? Hmmmm.... Gonna BE FUN IF I CAN KEEP DOWN MY SUPPER |
