. Why isn't this the BIG Story - why didn't this story garner a Media following - and have an outpouring of support? Why no Civil Rights Response? And then you could ask where Obama and DOJ are on this one. Mother shot while protecting daughter from gang recruitment - Action News 5 MEMPHIS, TN - (WMC-TV) - Leaning against a wall just to stand up, Beverly Dean talked about the moment she stood between her daughter and gang members trying to recruit the teen. "I could hear the bullets like they were breezing by me. It was just awful," said Dean. With a bullet still lodged in her upper leg area, Dean explained the gang recruitment began three months ago - when they moved into the old Kingsgate Apartments, now called New Horizons. She says the daily walk from the apartment to the car got increasingly dreadful. "They're constantly telling our teenage daughters either you get down with Kingsgate Mafia or you get out of the apartments," Dean said. The recruitment escalated Saturday when Memphis Police say a suspected female gang member used a bat to knock out the window of a car driven by Dean's boyfriend. Police say Jonathan Williams then asked "what y'all gonna do?" When they said they didn't want any more problems, police say Williams fired a hail of bullets. "I couldn't hardly lift my leg and I was like, 'I think I've been shot'. It could have been so much worse. I know the Lord. He had his arms around me," stated Dean Memphis Police arrested Williams, after finding gun residue on his hand. Dean's greatest concern is to see that her 17-year-old daughter makes it out alive. She is just months from starting college, and has a four-year scholarship. But they have nowhere else to live. "I really don't want to be here right now. I wish to God there were somewhere else I could be," stated Dean." Picture at Link http://www.wistv.com/category/224248/syndicated-content-vertical-acuity?vaid=1a00a645b7af7dcae7e738573770fe97 . Obama is always talking about everyone having a fair shot. This is his opportunity. The best thing he and Holder could do for their people is rid them of the scum they rub elbows with in public housing. |

It's a shame it is so hard to get gang members out of areas where good people live. Williams might be in jail now but other members of his gang are still on the streets. Every gang member in the area should be rounded up and put in jail. Also the people that housed these low lives should be held accountable too. Figure out some charges for them or at least throw them out of properties they were living in. |
