Here is what I cannot understand, when I voted last Tuesday in the Buckeye state, I was required to show an ID (one with a picture) in order to vote. Why is it legal in Ohio but not in Texas? |

Why is it legal that you have to show your ID to do or buy any number of things, but don't have to show it to vote? |

Yes, you have to show photo ID for lots of things. Even simple things. However, with something important like voting for who runs the country, anything goes. |

I just don't understand the opposition to citizens showing ID to vote. (Well, there's the answer. Too many non-citizens have been voting, I bet.) |

I live in Texas and have only had to show my voter registration card when I voted, I think the new voter ID law is a good one, but we in Texas are second class citizens because of the Sec 5 of the Voter Right Act. Every change in voting practices in the state must be cleared by the DOJ or the US Appeals Court in DC. Ohio is not under Sec. 5. |

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24351798/ns/politics/t/supreme-court-upholds-voter-id-law/#.T16d5Xm1XUn The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights, validating Republican-inspired voter ID laws. In a splintered 6-3 ruling, the court upheld Indiana's strict photo ID requirement, which Democrats and civil rights groups said would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots. Its backers said it was needed to prevent fraud. |

The DOJ has Texas under a voter watch due to earlier "problems." Thus they can apply this rule to them according to that idiot AG Holder. One should ask Holder why is it legal for the Homeland Security to ask for an ID to board a plane in Texas but it is illegal to ask for one voting in Texas. Clearly the DOJ is doing this to help the Democratic Party by creating an issue. It is pretty disgusting that the DOJ has now become a partisan political tool. |

. You can't get into a Democrat Town Hall without an ID. You can't meet with Eric Holder - his staff - or even enter the building where he conducts business without an ID. Letting fraudlent voters vote disinfranchises law-abiding Amerians exercising their rights by negating their votes. . |
