Didn't we just have a post about how the EPA regulations were a problem for some business near where he gave this speech?

"President Barack Obama on Wednesday proposed bigger tax credits for advanced-technology vehicles whether they are powered by electricity, natural gas or other alternative fuels and announced a $1-billion initiative to help a dozen or so communities across the U.S. create infrastructure to support them."

Barry's $1 billion plan illustrates just how costly ONLY the infrastructure could be.

Notice he now slips "natural gas" into the "alternative fuels" discussion ...when location of the speech makes it useful.

I suppose it is an "alternative" to oil products, but the way Barry added it to his list there seems to indicate he's trying to justify his 'green market' fuel "alternatives".

He's speaking out of of both sides of his mouth.

He says that Production is higher than ever, but it doesn't matter and it never will because we own 2% of the Oil and utllize 20% and it's a global market.

Then he says if we use Alternative Energy (he neglects to say it's much more expensive) and if we raise the Mileage standards then we'll use less Oil and the price will come way down.

Now what is wrong with this picture.

HE IS TALKING OUT OF HIS MAGICALLY PLACE!

He proposes Fuel Cells, one being Hydrogen. OK Class, where does Hydrogen Fuel come from? You can create it mainly through the use of electrical power, which requires energy, and that means mostly fossil fuel. Or you can use gasoline to make Hydrogen. (Hydro-Carbons) Do you get the idea?

Then Hydrogen, which is wonderful in areas like the Space Station, is not particularly a great fuel to use as storage on a mass scale.

Now you can also use gasoline fuel cells, but then where does the gasoline come from? Even Chu admitted much the same. Right now we are no where close to using fuel cells in large quantities.

Our problem is getting lower energy costs. Of course I was happy to see he mentioned natural gas, many have been telling him about that for years. But I wonder if it is just lip-service. I just can't imagine the Green Marxists pushing a fossil fuel.

Nuclear can provide low cost energy that is dependable. It can be made even safer. For all of the hype remember this. The USA operates the largest amount of nuclear power plants in the world, over 100. It supplies 20% of all our electrical energy. These plants are aging and many are over 40 years. We are operating on 1st or 2nd generation technology. Who is developing 4th & 5th generation Power Plants. The Chinese.

We don't have a national; energy policy, we have a contrived govt policy which is pretty insane.

But we use the dreaded Hydraulic Fracturing, aka Fracking, to get our nat gas...
