He's living in a fantasy world. He's completely divorced from reality. He is totally clueless, and so is his staff. He has no idea what the real world is like, and he never did. If we had any sort of journalists left in this country, he'd still be looking for work after college.

You can make oil from about anything that was ever alive at some point. BS actually is cheaper to convert than algae, last I read on it, so Obama may be our hero ...our supply to beat the high fuel prices! |

. A leader can see problems on the horizon. Fannie and Freddie were a known issue. In fact, Bush's people had advised the Congress and testified in front of Obama's Congressional Black Caucus. What does Obama do? He writes something very close to a form letter to the Housing secretary saying he's concerned about the number of Bankruptcies in his district. That's it, one cheap letter and no follow up. He did not see it coming, he did no planning for that eventuality. He has no answer for Gas Prices - he desires higher Gas Prices - but not before the election. How about the Explosion in the Gulf? How did he react to that crisis? Ask yourself, why in 2008 and 2009 wasn't Algae part of his plan? He only needs to fool the people for 250 more days. . Edited by Mason, Feb 23 2012, 09:33 PM.

. In light of the latest science (and I use that term loosely) from Barack's laboratory (Algae), we are left to wonder if he's going to create a Dept. of Scum . |

http://www.fastcompany.com/1723391/shell-ditches-algae-biofuel-during-year-of-choices Shell Ditches Algae Biofuel BY ARIEL SCHWARTZWed Feb 2, 2011 Oil companies are decent barometers of which biofuels are on the upswing. Case in point: As the hype around algae fuel has increased over the past few years, BP, Exxon, and Shell have all made algae biofuel commitments. Now, as the hype is dying down, so is the oil industry's interest. This week, Shell announced that it is exiting its final algae biofuel commitment. 2011 is Shell's "year of choices" -- a time when the company plans to cut down on its biofuel research paths from 10 technologies to five. Last week, Shell exited its investment in Choren, a biomass gasification business. This week, Shell will exit its shareholding in Cellana, a joint algae biofuel venture between Shell and HR Biopetroleum Algae, according to Renewable Energy World. There are still a number of oil companies working on algae biofuel, including BP, Exxon, Chevron, and Valero. It's not surprising -- Pike Research recently predicted that algae biofuel production could reach 61 million gallons a year and a market value of $1.3 billion over the next decade. But the biofuel industry has taken hits recently. Last week, the Rand Corporation released a report claiming that biofuels won't be cheap enough or readily available enough in the next decade to be useful to the military. And according to Vinod Khosla, photosynthetic algae biofuels are still too cost-prohibitive to go mass market. We'll be watching as Shell continues to whittle down its biofuel portfolio. Still in the running: Cosan's sugar-cane ethanol business, Iogen's straw-based ethanol, Codexis' biomass-to-ethanol technology, Virent's plant sugars-to-petrol process, and a number of research agreements. |

. Environmentalists Against Algae! Takes substantial amounts of Water to produce - and increases Greenhouse Gases! Requires more Petroleum products to produce « Science News Report: Algae as fuel presents problems Published: Aug. 10, 2011 at 7:55 PM CHARLOTTSVILLE, Va., Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Algae-based fuel is a possible future energy source with high energy output from minimal land use but could come with environmental burdens, scientists say. Algae would produce considerably more transportation energy than canola and switch grass for every acre planted and can be grown on poor-quality marginal land that cannot be easily used to grow food crops such as corn, University of Virginia researchers said in a release Wednesday. However, from an environmental impact standpoint, algae-based fuel has mixed performance compared with other biomass sources, engineering Professors Andres F. Clarens and Lisa M. Colosi said. Algae-based biodiesel production uses more energy, in the form of petroleum-powered processes, than other biofuels and also requires substantial amounts of water and emits more greenhouse gases, they said. "It comes down to value-driven questions," Colosi said. "Do we value driving long distances in SUVs that require a lot of fuel? If so, we need to look at algae so we can produce as much fuel as possible. "If we are concerned about energy use, climate changes and water supply, then we need to think more strongly about how we can best use canola and switch grass," she said. Environmental costs and benefits associated with production of the various bio-fuels needs to be considered, the researchers said. "Ultimately there is no silver bullet for replacing petroleum as a transportation energy source," Clarens said. "We've seen that alternatives typically come with unforeseen burdens. We saw it with ethanol, and we're seeing it now with shale gas." Edited by Mason, Feb 23 2012, 10:28 PM.

The department of energy has been working with algae for decades. They have been trying to make biofuels as a fuel and have not been successful. We used to get some algal samples from them for studies in drug discovery. |

If Jarrett his trusted confidante and mentor thinks paying everyone to be unemployed drives an economy then we are in really deep doo doo. Although I have listened to Mark Levin since I dropped Fox and he seems to be attracting a lot of defecting liberals who call in and are quite embarrassed at voting for President Einstein ! Maybe there is hope that we can see some change and an adult takes the helm once again. in November.

Obama videos from 2008 .....on 3.50 gas ! http://hotair.com/archives/2012/02/24/videos-obamas-2008-campaign-fueled-by-rising-gas-prices/ Andrew Kaczynski must be Barack Obama’s worst nightmare. While he and Nancy Pelosi try to find scapegoats for rapidly-rising gas prices, the BuzzFeed researcher is making Obama eat his own words … from 2008. When Obama ran for President, he attacked George Bush and John McCain for increased fuel costs and promised an end to reliance on foreign oil in order to bring prices back down. What gets Obama exercised in this ad? Gas prices have reached — horrors — $3.50 a gallon: snip Where are the 5 million jobs Mr O ? Edited by longstop, Feb 24 2012, 10:56 AM.

Also, don't forget that the Fed via Bernanke has been pumping hundreds of billions of dollars into banks and other entities to shore up their balance sheets, and oil worldwide is denominated in dollars. That means that while the Fed debases the dollar, commodities, including oil, go up in price, as they are quite sensitive to changes in the value of money.![]() |

Wise comments from a very knowledgeable professional on this "Ben” topic ...while amateurs, like myself, have tried to explain WTH this Federal Reserve is doing to us in our “Hidden Costs” thread …though much of what Ben does should be obvious to any idiot that can add 2+2. The end result leaves the less fortunate as the victims who suffer the greatest, and Barry acts like he's here to help them! |

. There are two guys on the radio here - and they railed against Bush and Oil prices for a long time, when he was President. They told their viewers that Bush and Cheney were getting incredibly wealthy off of backroom Oil deals that sold out the country. I had them on yesterday - and their whole show was about how a U.S. President has no control or influence on Gas Prices! So how is this? How is it they applauded Obama and the DEM Congress when they ran for office promising to lower Oil / Gas prices? Don't let them get away with it. . |
