Daniel Gross, the author of the above article, is an Obamabot. What a junk piece. High gas prices means a slowing of the GDP Quite a lot of cheer cheer for Obama going on in the MSM press nowadays in how they report the "facts!" One thing I will agree upon is North Dakota is doing great with lowest unemployment rate in the nation at 3.3%. Of which Obama has nothing to do with! |

He was full of it from the start in the way I saw it. "First, compared with 2007 and 2008, corporate and personal balance sheets are in much better shape, and hence better able to absorb rising costs." So the guy short on his payment to the bank just explains his business must "absorb rising costs"! The sad part of this BS is that the ones who have the least room in theor budgets are hurt the worst. |

http://www.wral.com/business/story/10801133/ Gas prices continue to soar Posted: 4:55 p.m. today Updated: 59 minutes ago RALEIGH, N.C. — For more than three weeks straight, gas prices have risen each day. The Triangle is on par with the national average of $3.74 per gallon. "It is pretty rough. I usually wait until I absolutely have to get gas to stop," driver Kelly McCaskill said Thursday. McCaskill spent $73 filling up her pickup truck. "There's a lot of gas stations around here, so I try to hunt for the cheapest one, but they usually stay about in the same range," McCaskill said. The cost is even higher for diesel engines. Mark England runs a local branch of AdvantaClean, a company that does fire and water restoration. He puts at least $100 in his truck every week. "Especially in this economy, it's really hard to push that cost on to the consumer," England said. England said his company does everything it can to save on gas, including always taking the most direct route possible to a job. Experts say a big reason for high gas prices is fear about the supply of gas being disrupted if a military conflict occurs between Israel and Iran. Some experts believe gas could top out at $4.25 or $4.50 a gallon. |

This resembles a demand side approach to marketing, where the supply follows. |

. How many things Owebama claims, in that short, little article, are wrong? He claims - in 10 years - that fuel economy standards will make life so much better and do so much for Gas Prices. He totally ignores that if China and India and other places increase their demands, than it will have no effect. The bottoming Dollar - yeah, like he's going to touch that. The media has made this monster that has no accountability and feels he does not have to tell the Truth. . |

This move was in response to the average price hitting just under $4/gal a few months prior (about the peak of speculation as we saved the civilians!). I'm amazed he has not come out with new regulations to give us more savings or at least bump them with adjustments for projected price increases (hidden in the footnotes, of course) ....and while he's at it, add in $1,000/year for FREE PILLS! |

The Great Dictator next dictates 100 mpg and only one spoonful of sugar in your coffee. Question is where are they going to get all that lost gas tax revenue ? Edited by longstop, Mar 3 2012, 06:57 PM.

That's what the mileage tax is for. To recoup the revenue lost from their own push for more fuel efficient cars. The idea that you'll save all that money would be a sham if they start their mileage tax. Of course, they will not remove the fuel tax, so the mileage tax will be an additional tax. The only humor I see is that a Volt might have to pay the same tax as an F-150. |
