Will Obama be holding the free trade agreements as hostages for his unfunded Son of Stimulus bill? |

I've been seeing lots of comments on ultra-left sites saying they never want to see O's face again. They are crying that Obama wants to cut social security and they are scared to death that the Republicans will go along with the jobs plan. |

Having had time to think over last night speech and listen to the various pundits I think our initial assessment thread was quite spot on. The arrogance of Obama was shown last night in his repeated and urgent command to "Pass the Bill" immediately. Clearly he lay the future of the economy directly in the hands of Congress in hopes of "Passing the Buck!" What has become clear since is there is NO Bill! No details, NO BILL! What a goldbrick President who fails to lead at every occasion. Our Problem is that we are Leaderless. |

Open mic - Biden and Boehner exchange before O's speech. Boehner: "I'm one of those barbarians." http://www.businessinsider.com/your-government-at-work-in-candid-moment-boehner-and-biden-discuss-the-challenges-facing-the-nation-2011-9 |

Thanks for posting that. The Good Old Boys talking about Golf! Millions of Americans out of work. I have been told that is what DC is all about. Fight in public and wine & dine behind the scene laughing all the way as they blow our money! |

His commitment to deliver the bill was finite, he said a week from this coming Monday. That's Sept 19, 2011. Of course he did not say how open-ended the bill would be, and he left the impression that the method to pay for it is only what he directed the "committee" to do in that speech ...since we get bills absent a means to pay for them all the time, I guess that's okay in this nation! |

. Here's a specific Question. Biden is out there saying every person that gets a paycheck will have their payroll deductions cut in half - saying the average person would get $1,500 more over the course of the year. I don't believe most of the things offered in speeches, especially in the campaign time-frame, but is that true? So he's robbing the Social Security fund to pay a Election Campaign Stimulus? Can't say without the bill. To correct myself, the bill is supposed to be next week, Obama's $2 trillion in cuts / taxes Sept. 19. |

. Even the current payroll plan he has (that he wants to extend and expand now) - that is taking from the Soc. Security fund, is that correct? . |

Obama wants to extend and expand a payroll tax cut that is scheduled to expire at the end of the year. The current tax cut, which applies only to workers, reduces federal Social Security pension taxes 2 percent. A two percent cut in SS & Medicare doesn't add up to $1500 per person. To get that you would need to make an average of $75,000/year. The USA Mean average is $44,410. They just lie. |

. Yes, thank you. He's robbing Peter to Pay Paul. "Before the temporary payroll tax cut last year, employees and employers paid 7.6% in FICA payroll, of which 6.2% went to social security and 1.5% went to Medicare. The Medicare portion was never cut." "Under the proposal, employees who already went from a 6.2% reduction in payroll taxes to 4.2% in 2010 will pay 3.1% in 2012 if approved by Congress. The tax is for income up to $106,8000 and then after that there is no FICA tax, including no Medicare tax for that year. . |

. Yes, but I like to look at SS differently than most entitlements. People can and do pay in quite a bit over a course of lifetime. I offer the point in that he's talking out of both sides of his mouth, as is the Media. Social Security is sacred - hey, but let's use it to get out the Vote. . , |
