KUHNER: Obama and the lunatic left
President and his followers intend to end America’s greatness

President Obama is politically insane. This is the real meaning of his speech Thursday night in front of a joint session of Congress. Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over, expecting

a different result. By that definition, Mr. Obama is a lunatic leftist.

Much of his speech called for more of the same - government activism; massive spending on infrastructure, bridges and roads; extending the payroll tax cut; and more public aid to states and municipalities. In short, he seeks to perpetuate the dismal policies of Obamanomics. He is a reckless ideologue masquerading as a pragmatist.

Why would Obama mention Warren Buffet? The news about his tax problem was already well known...yet they use him in the speech...
Maybe Buffett is starting to like attention in his old age. He did make a big effort to bail out Bank of America ...which leads back to my suspicions that something big is going on in the home mortgage business and would most likely involve private banks and big mortgage brokerages.

Buffett does not seem like an idiot that would dump $5 billion into a bank, one facing lawsuits from every direction, unless he anticipated the clouds were clearing off for the sun to shine on it in the future.

Obama's Jobs Plan: Great Theater, Uncertain Policy
Forbes

When you get right down to it, the jobs plan President Obama proposed before a joint session of Congress last night was built on three elements: A large payroll tax cut, lots of new spending on public infrastructure, and a promise that its $447 billion cost would be paid for with yet-to-be disclosed tax hikes and spending cuts.

As political theater, the speech was terrific. It was a powerful defense of government—words his base has been longing to hear since the 2010 election. It challenged Republicans to “stop the political circus” and work with him to boost the economy—a poll-tested argument that appears to have strong support among many Americans. And the often dispassionate president sounded as if he really cared.

As substance, his plan, called the American Jobs Act, combines the bold with small-bore, Bill Clinton-like subsidies for carefully selected interests. Mixing short-term stimulus with long-term deficit reduction is perfectly sensible. But did Obama get the right mix?

By far his most ambitious idea is to extend through 2012 and expand the payroll tax cut that was due to expire at the end of this year. His plan, which would reduce federal revenues by $170 billion, would cut the worker share of the payroll tax to 3.1 percent from 4.2 percent (it was 6.2 percent prior to this year’s tax holiday). At the same time, it would cut the employer share to 3.1 percent from 6.2 percent on the first $5 million of payroll. Firms that add workers or give current employees raises would pay no wage tax on up to $50 million in new payroll....snipped

Pardon me but I seem to remember we are having a debate about the funding of SS & Medicare. The well established problem is a lack of revenue compared to future expenses for those funds. A payroll tax cut while appealing to most all of us is a bit strange. Do people understand that it means less SS & more problems for Medicare?

If 51% of taxpayers are not paying Income Taxes, it means those 51% will be paying less. I consider this Stimulus opium for the masses, more spending & less taxes.

The problem is spending and Obama wants more spending. To whom will a major part of this stimulus go to? His supporters in the election. Unions(teachers & Construction workers) and although he didn't mention it, I am sure the Green Economy and into the hands of the big donors

This is, again, Obama's 2012 Reelection Stimulus Campaign being paid for by the USA Taxpayer.

Will America fall again for the traveling snake oil salesman on a second go round?

Professor Harold Hill Obama; " How about an upgrade to those boy's band uniforms? I know the first set wasn't really what you had hope for & they were a bit torn, but with some more of my magic snake oil I can fix it!"

Our problem is we need to put Govt & those who are leeching on it, public & private, on a diet!

Isn't it odd that the notion any thing that slows down the process in Congress - that's where 2+ ideologies are worked out to one both can agree on - is the fault of the Republicans!

The mid-term election showed us the nation wanted a change ...a very strong message for change. Congress hashes out some change and now it was a 'bad' on the part of those who stood firm for that change.

The presumptions involved in who to blame should start with those on the side of NOT changing what was going on!

I just received this e-mail. I have met this fella who is the president of the National Green Energy Council. In fact one of our republican commissioners invited him to speak to our EDC and our EDC actually became the first county economic development corporation to join the organization. We are hoping that he can bring some jobs into Chatham County. This company is not a green energy freak but approaches the issue with a very common sense intent.

Dear President Obama,

After watching your speech to Congress last evening and your presentation of the American Jobs Act, I can honestly say that you have completely sold out to the special interests and been consumed by the political machine. Your words were empty and I assure you, they fell on deaf ears.

The American people know that all you and Congress care about is getting reelected. Well, Mr. President, you used social media to get elected the first time and you promised a new generation of voter that you would bring change. You did not! The instant gratification generation that helped elect you and your Congressional partners will be looking to place their votes in those politicians that they believe will make the change that is needed and that you promised.

The only jobs that you supported in last evenings speech were union jobs, not every day middle class American jobs. Infrastructure jobs building bridges and tunnels and roads to nowhere... How does that put "Joe the Plumber" back to work?

Refurbishing schools is also union work, it won't put a local electrical contractor to work.

Your abandonment of support of "Green Jobs" was the most crushing blow in your plan to get America back to work. It seems that "Clean Coal", who had a great commercial before and after your speech and the continually subsidized oil industry have finally spent enough lobbying dollars to get you to abandon Energy Security through renewable energy.

The irony is that last evening while you were giving your speech to the nation, a single worker from a utility company happened to be able to take down the entire power grid in California, Arizona and Nevada! Now if that isn't a sign that our antiquated power grid is where all new infrastructure jobs should be created, I don't know how much more of a sign you could get.

Yes, these Smart Grid infrastructure jobs will initially be union jobs as well but the ancillary jobs creation from the local contractors weatherizing and energy efficiency retrofitting will put the average "Joe" contractor back to work.

And if that average "Joe" contractor goes to work, he employs people in his town and they go to lunch in that town, get gas in that town and buy computers and blue jeans and work boots in that town and behold, the American economy starts to breathe again. Town by town, City by city. And the American Green Technology manufacturing of those energy efficient products will put people to work. Investors will finally invest in Green technology companies and these companies won't need subsidies from the Federal government.

You said you want to export Fords and Chevys to other countries... Really, have you seen how much a gallon of gas is in Brazil,China??? Did you know that the import fees for a car to Brazil are over 80% of value?

Mr. President, you are not to blame for our current situation. The problem is that your intentions were just but the machine has consumed you. We have 535 Congressional leaders that all think they are the President of the united States. Our government has become Democrats against Republicans. That is why the Tea Party came creeping in and now every politician in Washington is trying to jump on their band wagon.

I tell you Mr. President the same thing I said to Mr. Romney the other day...

This election will come down to jobs and energy security.

Infrastructure jobs building bridges, tunnels and roads to nowhere. It just won't work. We need to digitize the US Power Grid. We need to treat energy as a National Security issue. We need to build renewable energy projects all across America. We need to make every home, business and building in our Nation as energy efficient and weatherized as possible. That will save Americans and American businesses money every day. We need to take back the subsidies for big oil, nuclear and ethanol and get our troops home and we will save enough money in one year to pay off our debt.

We need to get big American companies to pay their fair share. Restructure the tax basis so everyone pays their fare share and we need to cut out the pork from every single bill that Congress votes on..

My offer still stands..my office is right across the street from yours. Come over and let's have a cup of coffee and make a real plan to get Americans back to work!

Sincerely,

Ralph Avallone

Why would Obama mention Warren Buffet? The news about his tax problem was already well known...yet they use him in the speech...
Guessing 0bama thinks most people haven't heard of his tax problems or just don't care like they apparently didn't care about Timothy Geithner's tax issues. 0bama is using Buffet to make himself look less radical. And lets face it hypocrisy is nothing new for 0bama when it comes to taxes. One week he wants to lower them. The next he wants to raise them. Then lower. Then raise.

Also lets not forget GE got away without paying a lot of taxes. They are even outsourcing jobs. 0bama is against outsourcing of jobs, yet 0bama appointed Jeff Immelt to head the Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Immelt was even a guest of 0bama's for the jobs speech. Clearly 0bama well say whatever the teleprompter tells him to say.

:laughin:

I recall GE's spokesperson telling us how the X-ray business it was opening up in China was to develop with the growing demand China provides, but then went on to tell of the research moved there and how a sizable amount of the products produced there would be exported from there.

Nothing about WHY they would not expand operations here, just mentioning how they did not expect any job losses in the USA ...at this time!

Obama jobs plan spurs cautious hope among businesses

Obama's new plan was designed to be much simpler.

"I think they've learned from the Recovery Act and tried to make it easier to implement it and to be more effective," said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics, a research and forecasting firm.

Zandi estimates that Obama's new ideas, if adopted in their entirety, would add 2 million additional net jobs in 2012 and bring the unemployment rate to about 8% by election time next year, down from 9% if there was no policy change. The rate was 9.1% in August.

"It's a bold effort to provide more support to the economy, certainly bigger than widely anticipated," he said.

Overall, this California based article produces more quetioning the "SPEECH" than those excited about it.

I love how the "chief economist" is quick to act like the Son of Stimulus will have learned brilliant lessons from its father! You'd think the first question a "chief economist" would ask is 'where's the money?'.

lol... you want my view or theirs. I dont know theirs. But mine would be something like this company is not afraid to do fracking in an environmentally sound manner. They are developing methods (according to them) that will eliminate toxic chemicals used in the process from staying in the ground. That is common sense to me. They are not afraid of using coal and are developing methods to make coal cleaner. In other words, they just dont say, it pollutes so we wont use it. If it pollutes they find a way to solve that problem so it does not anymore. They have inexpensive methods for cleaning up federally defined nasty waste dumps. Many other neat technologies.

You can google their web site.

ETA: They are trying to work with the NC biofuel industry to have the State of NC approve using restaurant grease waste being used to make biofuel. I do not believe NC allows that at the present time. This helps the restaurant becasue the biofuel company will pay for the grease and it will not cost the restaurant anything to have it removed.

From the article linked above in my post on the Drudge headline...

"...In addition, investors were considering whether fiscal or monetary policy could come to the rescue of the economy as they await the Federal Reserve policy meeting later this month. Stocks were sharply lower on Thursday after the chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben S. Bernanke, gave no new signs that there would be fresh stimulus measures.

“If you are in the market right now, you’ve got uncertainty on top of uncertainty on top of uncertainty ,” [Paul Ballew, a former Federal Reserve economist and now chief economist at Nationwide] said. “You have got a pretty toxic mix."”

Three uncertainty levels?

Is that private business versus...

1. Obama
2. Ben
3. Congress

Obama Seeks Do-Over on Economy
By Chris Stirewalt
Published September 09, 2011

“I want to thank the members of this body for your efforts and your support in these last several months, and especially those who've taken the difficult votes that have put us on a path to recovery. I also want to thank the American people for their patience and resolve during this trying time for our nation.

But we did not come here just to clean up crises. We came here to build a future. So tonight, I return to speak to all of you about an issue that is central to that future -- and that is the issue of health care.”

-- President Obama in a speech to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 9, 2009

Two years ago today, President Obama delivered his first special address to a joint session of Congress – a call for the passage of an unwritten health care law.

Last night, the president delivered his second special address to a joint session of Congress – a bid to revive his faltering re-election effort with a third stimulus package.

If Obama hadn’t given the first special address, he might not have needed to try the second one.

Power Play is a political note, not a policy paper, and will leave to experts dissecting the specific provisions of the president’s $447 billion stimulus plan. But in political terms, what the president was doing in the House chamber on Thursday night was asking for a do-over.
