If Obama does actually hand Congress a bill, the House should introduce it as the "Son of Stimulus"! |

I love this forum The honestly expressed about our Azzhats in DC shows me at least they can't fool everyone. The current DC is a caricature of every bad political cartoon combined into one montage. 1) Obama said some variant of "pass this bill now" at least 18 times, but hasn't submitted a bill. 2) Obama said this bill is paid for, but it isn't. The first step would be to submit it to the CBO which must score the cost. 3) The CBO will come back with a figure which we know is too low 4) The financial aspect of how it will pay for it will be the providence of the "Super Committee." A group of six politicians who won't cut spending, but merely posture & fail to agree. If they make any decisions it will be on fairyland assumptions in budgets 4-8 years out which will be under future Congresses who most likely won't follow them anyway. There will be no cuts now or in 2012. Heck the Senate hasn't even pass a budget for the last two years. 5) Meanwhile Obama heads out on a Presidential Tour to three key states where he is losing now. He is saying unemployment will lessen if Congress passes this ill immediately. The implication is clear, if the don't high unemployment is the Republicans in Congress fault. IMHO the ability to handle truth is the cornerstone in any organization. We can all debate policies and what should we do, but if we can't tell the truth and use real numbers then everything that falls from it won't work. DC tell the truth?

Smarmy, or not, I like DM. Having worked for the Clintons and having been burned by them, he knows their character inside and out and isn't afraid to speak out about them. Let's face it, all of the political strategist are smarmy in one way or another and that includes the Republicans. Most are very partisan but Morris seems the least so. Outside of his "sucking toes" scandal and being fired by the Clintons, what else has he done? |

. Have you noticed how Obama never cuts anything? He borrows from a reserve or fund that ostensibly has to be paid back. If he took a Dept. or two and canned them - or permanently stopped several large programs that are questionable - there would be funding that doesn't have to be paid back. It's like someone taking from the medical saving account (they need for the year) instead of getting rid of third car and using the proceeds. I think it shows his committment to Big Government, All Government, really. . |

Quotes from an earlier post... National Green Energy Council (Letter to Obama) ...Your abandonment of support of "Green Jobs" was the most crushing blow in your plan to get America back to work. It seems that "Clean Coal", who had a great commercial before and after your speech and the continually subsidized oil industry have finally spent enough lobbying dollars to get you to abandon Energy Security through renewable energy. -Green Jobs “support” is subsidization for higher priced energy systems -Coal is the source for the majority of our power grids -It is VERY ironic to whine about “subsidized” oil while preaching of “Green Jobs” -The point of “Energy Security” is twofold; eliminate the need to rely on imports from sources that could leave us wanting for reliability, and, to a much greater extent, keeping the dollars spent on energy here at home. Paying an enormously higher price to operate on “renewable energy” will actually increase the production costs for EVERYTHING we produce in this nation, therefore creating the likelihood that IMPORTS would increase …coming from nations which do not increase the ENERGY cost for their production, along with adding another reason for businesses to relocate to foreign countries. ...The irony is that last evening while you were giving your speech to the nation, a single worker from a utility company happened to be able to take down the entire power grid in California, Arizona and Nevada! Now if that isn't a sign that our antiquated power grid is where all new infrastructure jobs should be created, I don't know how much more of a sign you could get. Yes, these Smart Grid infrastructure jobs will initially be union jobs as well but the ancillary jobs creation from the local contractors weatherizing and energy efficiency retrofitting will put the average "Joe" contractor back to work. -For the record, the grid he was working on had been updated. Engineering evidently failed somehow there. -The “grids” are owned by private companies set up to profit from operations, not public right-of-ways for all to use freely. The formula for US tax dollars paying for jobs to redo these grids translates in to subsidization for the grid owners. -The “weatherizing and energy efficiency retrofitting” has already been marked a failure. Even if it were to be used, it is the “free money” for some, paid for by the tax dollars from ALL of us …redistribution. ...And if that average "Joe" contractor goes to work, he employs people in his town and they go to lunch in that town, get gas in that town and buy computers and blue jeans and work boots in that town and behold, the American economy starts to breathe again. Town by town, City by city. And the American Green Technology manufacturing of those energy efficient products will put people to work. Investors will finally invest in Green technology companies and these companies won't need subsidies from the Federal government. -Some truth there, but using that theory we’d need to just keep borrowing trillions to spend so the entire population could soon be wealthy. The “truth” is that for every $1 taken from those who earned it and spent by those who take it, we see less than $2 spent in our economy (tax revenue negative there!). If you wish to avoid that “take it …from those who earned it”, therefore sidestepping the taking it, then you’re stuck with borrowing it. That leads to “take it” later or Ben producing it now, which adds to inflation and actually reduces the demand for more production because we can’t afford it with the inflated prices. Mr. President, you are not to blame for our current situation. The problem is that your intentions were just but the machine has consumed you. We have 535 Congressional leaders that all think they are the President of the united States. Our government has become Democrats against Republicans. That is why the Tea Party came creeping in and now every politician in Washington is trying to jump on their band wagon. -Mr. President owns this economy and the Green Market. The majority put the Tea Party into play, the Democrats still have 2/3 of the control left, so it's pure Democratic BS laying blame on the Tea Party. I tell you Mr. President the same thing I said to Mr. Romney the other day... This election will come down to jobs and energy security. Infrastructure jobs building bridges, tunnels and roads to nowhere. It just won't work. We need to digitize the US Power Grid. We need to treat energy as a National Security issue. We need to build renewable energy projects all across America. We need to make every home, business and building in our Nation as energy efficient and weatherized as possible. That will save Americans and American businesses money every day. We need to take back the subsidies for big oil, nuclear and ethanol and get our troops home and we will save enough money in one year to pay off our debt. My favorite part!!!!! -So we need to spend hundreds of billions to avoid a few million MAYBE being without power a day or two and that will put us ahead of the world in creating jobs????? -We have enough gas in the ground to fuel us for a century, enough oil in the ground to eliminate all imports, and the solution is higher priced AND subsidized “renewable energy projects all across America”???? -The total savings for “subsidies for big oil, nuclear and ethanol and get our troops home” would payoff $15 trillion in one year …a single year???? ???? Is this new math used for all calculations presented by the National Green Energy Council ????
I skipped the initial 5 paragraphs, which were general comments leading up to more details in most paragraphs which followed. It is quite possible that association with this organization could help your local “economic development corporation”, just as all networking is usually beneficial. However, IMO, joining with them helps to add to the credibility of an organization that wants government money to spend on higher priced energy systems that will cost us jobs in the long-term …the addition of another voice to the consensus of many that the ideas for green energy are sound and sought after by reputable groups ...including your EDC. The objective of that letter was to buy more jobs with tax dollars and invite Obama over for coffee and a discussion about it! Just my opinion here! |

Employers Say Jobs Plan Won’t Lead to Hiring Spur The dismal state of the economy is the main reason many companies are reluctant to hire workers, and few executives are saying that President Obama’s jobs plan — while welcomed — will change their minds any time soon. That sentiment was echoed across numerous industries by executives in companies big and small on Friday, underscoring the challenge for the Obama administration as it tries to encourage hiring and perk up the moribund economy. The plan failed to generate any optimism on Wall Street as the Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index and the Dow Jones industrial average each fell about 2.7 percent. As President Obama faced an uphill battle in Congress to win support even for portions of the plan, many employers dismissed the notion that any particular tax break or incentive would be persuasive. Instead, they said they tended to hire more workers or expand when the economy improved. Companies are focused on jittery consumer confidence, an unstable stock market, perceived obstacles to business expansion like government regulation and, above all, swings in demand for their products. “You still need to have the business need to hire,” said Jeffery Braverman, owner of Nutsonline, an e-commerce company in Cranford, N.J., that sells nuts and dried fruit. While a $4,000 credit could offset the cost of the company’s lowest-cost health insurance plan, he said, it would not spur him to hire someone. “Business demand is what drives hiring,” he said....snipped http://www.cnbc.com/id/44465169 $4,000 is nothing to stimulate hiring an employee when there is no demand. An employee has to generate after tax profit for a company. It means they have to produce in abundance more than it costs to employ them. Of course a Marxist has no clue, same as his academic advisers. |

http://www.wral.com/business/story/10116105/ White House: Obama to send jobs bill Monday Posted: 32 minutes ago WASHINGTON — A White House official says President Barack Obama will send Congress his new $447 billion jobs bill Monday and speak in the Rose Garden to call for swift passage. Obama is also preparing to travel the country to build public support for the package he unveiled last week. He'll visit Ohio Tuesday and North Carolina Wednesday to ask voters to pressure lawmakers to pass the bill. The centerpiece of the plan is lower Social Security payroll taxes for individuals and businesses. There's also new spending to hire teachers and rebuild schools, among other things. Teachers, police officers, firefighters and others will join the president in the Rose Garden to call for passage, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity ahead of the president's remarks. |

Every time Obama foists another heist on us it has to be done NOW. He creates a crisis by neglect and absolutely NO action, and then calls on the Congress to respond to his self-inflicted wounds with his own self-generated cure. Who in his right mind would pay any attention to this man? If congress gives his "plan" anything more than a courtesy glance those lawmakers are crazy. I hope and pray that the conservatives realize that the American public will not be as easily duped this time around. Stimulus One.... didn't work; Stimulus Two... didn't work. Health Care.... threatening to derail us. In those great immortal words.... Stupid is as stupid does! |

Since I anticipate the trade agreements will be a part of this bill, I'm left wondering if there is anything that would prohibit the House from introducing a bill for only those agreements? |

The centerpiece of the plan is lower Social Security payroll taxes for individuals and businesses. Is obama saying that social security is not really a savings program for the people? If that SS money is not used for savings for retirement then what is it used for? If it is only used for retirement then why is he reducing the potential of people saving for their retirement. I would say that obama just admitted that social security is a bogus ponzi scheme that will never be used to support future generations retirement. But it will be used as a government source for jobs if ya belong to a union. |
