Obama is sooooo out of touch. The bottom line - the emperor has no clothes - his much vaunted (from his flunkies and from himself)speech/plan is a big nothing - the American public realizes that and will turn the dial to watch football where at least one will see people working rather than hearing about a plan to possibly put some people to work.

The football game will rule on the 8th. Saints/Packers season kickoff.
That's what I will be watching.

So Boehner says no to the same day as the debate and gives him the day as the opening game of the NFL season. LOL 0bama would have been better off not acting like this speech is urgent and doing it at a later date worked out between the parties over the phone. Egg all in his face. LOL

Probably part of his blame Congress strategy.

Any money on Obama actually providing a PLAN after the speech? He has to have Congress NOT pass it to be a martyr. How will Congress get the PLAN that will not pass?

Any money on Obama coming up with something Congress would pass? Seems like that's just about his best shot for re-election.

My goodness Obama is a blooming idiot!

It is the opening of the NFL and the kick-off game.

Whose going to watch Obama?

:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

BTW NBC starts its pre-game coverage at 1:30 EST with Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, and Marron Five. It's a huge production

I see all time low ratings for Obama.

Obama agrees to delay jobs speech to Congress

The move does seem so dumb that a person had to wonder WHY they did it. We're all anticipating a plan that won't pass. Could it have been a move to set himself up to give in, the bipartisan president at work bending just to meet with Congress?

Wanna bet the WH was operating under the belief that Obama could dictate when and where?

I think they found out the hard way that Boehner schedules the floor.

I also think Boehner is tired of being disrespected by 0bama and his people. There is just no good will left.

I for one can't wait to see the Republican debate. The WH has already leaked so much info on Obama's speech that the candidates already know what he's going to propose. And I can count on it being another fluffy pie in the sky campaign speech. I just wonder how much of the blame game he's going to play.

After Timing Dust-Up, Pressure Builds on Obama to Deliver Major Jobs Plan

The pressure is on President Obama to deliver a blockbuster plan to revive the economy, as the White House hypes his upcoming jobs speech -- amid a bungled rollout -- as a potential turning point in his administration.

When the White House first teased the public last month about the upcoming presidential address, some in Washington immediately panned it as just another jobs speech -- the kind he's delivered numerous times before turning his attention to other matters. This one is different, the White House says. Press Secretary Jay Carney described the speech as "significant," with economic recovery on the line.

The administration claims the president will be presenting new ideas for the economy, beyond items he's been pushing for months like a patent reform bill and a set of international trade deals.

Carney declined to get into detail Wednesday, saying only: "It will be a significant speech with many elements to it."

These elements could include a blend a tax relief and unemployment aid as well as infrastructure spending. The latter is politically difficult to pitch, since Republicans often associate infrastructure spending with the deficit-growing components of the stimulus plan.

Carney, though, repeatedly said the president's proposals will be paid for.

"...will be paid for"

Can't wait to read the text on this speech. The annual budget isn't even paid for. Sounds like details are necessary, not just cheerleading to motivate the crowd.

We know what he will say, paid for by savings in the future and by increased tax revenues by the millions of jobs he will create.

In other word buttus

He will prosposed an extension of the payroll tax moratorium(which just lessens you Social Security benefits), extension of unemployment benefits, more job training, more infrastructure which what was the last stimulus was supposed to do.

Never-mind we have a gasoline tax that is supposed to go to Highway construction & Bridges but which Congress habitually diverts some of it for their rapid transit, train, handicap crossings, et spending ways.

Let's see if he pushes Green Job!

Don't Expect Anything New from Obama's Jobs Speech
By Michael Goodwin

Get out the marshmallows and gather ’round the campfire, boys and girls, President Obama is about to give another speech.

Whoopee.

OK, so the idea doesn’t exactly send a tingle up your leg or make you swoon with visions of Hope & Change. In that case, you don’t have to wait a minute longer for him to actually declare how he’ll create jobs. Here’s what he will say next week.

“Folks are hurtin’.”

“We have to invest in the future.”

“We need a balanced approach.” “My hope and expectation is that we can put country before party and get something done for the American people.”

The first three are boilerplate arguments for ever-more government spending and ever-higher taxes. Whatever else he says, that will be the heart of his “pivot” to jobs.

There’s nothing new in the approach because it’s exactly what he’s said and done since he took office. He probably calls for tax hikes in his sleep.

It’s the last phrase -- “put country before party” -- that is especially noteworthy and troubling.

snip.....
