Thousands Camp Out for Job Fair as Jobless Rate Rises

Thousands of unemployed waited overnight, camping out in their business suits and office heels and braving the tormenting heat in Atlanta to stand in line for a job fair Thursday. Authorities treated 20 people for heat exhaustion as they struggled to keep the line moving and get people moved inside.

The incredible turnout at the job fair comes on the heels of the state labor commissioner's announcement that Georgia's jobless rate rose.

The state unemployment rate increased to 10.1 percent in July from the 9.9 percent in June. The unemployment rate for African-Americans stands at 15.9 percent, far above the national rate of 9.1 percent.

July marks the 48th consecutive month that Georgia has exceeded the national unemployment rate.

The line was full of hopefuls who waited for hours in a line that wrapped around the Atlanta Technical College where the event was held....snipped

No jobs; the host is being slowly bled to death.Interesting article from the American thinker.

Political Parisitology.

http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/08/political_parisitology.html

snip
There is an inherent problem in government, all governments. It leads to situations like the current one and then progresses to much worse. This problem, discussed below, eventually leads to the collapse of economies if not civilizations.
Politics As A Form of Parisitism

The definition of a parasite is "an organism that spends a significant portion of its life in or on the living tissue of a host organism and which causes harm to the host without immediately killing it." Parisitology is the study of parasites.

The definition of a parasite sounds like a perfect description of what government has become. The political class, its cronies and its dependents are parasites. The host is the productive sector of the economy. One lives at the expense of the other. One is "taking," the other "making.".....................................snipped

The decision to destroy the host may not seem rational to the rest of us, but it is clearly in the best interest of the current parasites. Death for them at some future uncertain date is a better than death at the next election. They chose what was in their best interest but not the country's.

Until the host dies, the current parasites will exploit for as long as they can. They have chosen a form of Kevorkian economics, managed suicide for the host economy. Unlike Kevorkian, they intend to keep the host alive as long as possible enabling them to maximize their time in the trough.

The rest of us will be left to pick up the pieces when the collapse occurs. The parasites will be dead in a political sense but likely living in a different country.

Government is the problem, everywhere.

end. Comments.

The "parisitology" (study) tells us we're suffering "Kevorkian Economics"!

That's a good description of what we have. Imagine the 'cut increases / pay later' deficit reduction program starting to kick in about the same time the business world encounters the demands to pay for Obamacare in 2013 & 14 ...and the economy has yet to fully recover.

California unemployment rises in July to 12%
California's unemployment rate climbs two-tenths of a percentage point in July, the U.S. Department of Labor says, to 12%. The state has the second-highest jobless rate in the nation, exceeded only by Nevada at 12.9%.

Reporting from Sacramento—
California's stubbornly high unemployment rate rose even higher in July, climbing two-tenths of a percentage point to 12%, the U.S. Department of Labor reported Friday.

It was the second straight monthly increase in joblessness as measured by a federal survey of households.

California's unemployment rate was the second-highest in the nation, exceeded only by Nevada at 12.9%.

The state's employers added a modest 4,500 new jobs to payrolls, according to a separate monthly check of businesses. Last month, there were a revised 30,500 new jobs.

That level of growth, while welcome, is not strong enough to put a dent in California's large pool of out-of-work people, analysts said.

"This is much like we've been seeing, slow growth," said Howard Roth, chief economist for the state Department of Finance. "But, recently, [unemployment] has been going the wrong way on us."...snipped

Even the MSM is having a hard time covering for Obama's BS

Obama Says Congress Can Approve Trade Deals 'Right Now,' But Hasn't Sent Them to Hill

(ABC News) — President Obama has touted three pending U.S. trade deals as measures that could immediately spur job growth, if only Congress would approve them to become law. The only problem: the White House has not yet formally sent the deals to Congress for a vote.

“With 1.3 million jobs lost under the ‘stimulus’ binge and the unemployment rate over 9 percent, there’s no excuse for the White House to delay a moment longer,” said Don Seymour, communications director for House Speaker John Boehner, in a blog post Friday. “If President Obama wants Congress to ‘go ahead and get those trade deals done,’ he should submit them for ratification as soon as possible.”

Officials announced in June that, after months of negotiation between the administration and congressional Republicans, had agreed to the overall terms of the trade deals and an accompanying piece of legislation, known as the Trade Adjustment Assistance program — essentially clearing the way for the legislation to become law.

“As a result of extensive negotiations, we now have an agreement on the underlying terms for a meaningful renewal of a strengthened TAA,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said on Jun. 29. “Now it is time to move forward with the TAA and with the Korea, Colombia and Panama trade agreements, which will support tens of thousands of jobs.”....snipped

My guess is he's playing the "trade deal" CONATANTLY the last cuple months so Dem's can attach his 'jobs idea' and it will take its predetermined course to not passing ....so he may then assign blame for the trade deal canned by Tea Party mindset as the obstacle keeping him from creating jobs.

That's really high considering many Californians have wound up in Texas (Austin is a mecca for jobs right now). My sister lives in Austin and she says half the people in her area are from California.

Rick Perry may have his faults but he's done pretty good about making Texas business-friendly.

In California

Jobless report deepens gloom

Get used to it.

Unemployment inched up in California and Sacramento last month, state officials said Friday – further evidence that the economy has settled in for a slow, unspectacular recovery.

The statistics didn't indicate another free fall. But they generated little hope that the economy is poised for an immediate liftoff.

"We're going to see this for some time," said Michael Bernick, a fellow at the Milken Institute think tank and former director of the Employment Development Department.

In its monthly jobs report, the EDD said statewide unemployment grew two-tenths of a point in July, to 12 percent. The number of payroll jobs, considered a more reliable barometer, actually grew. But the increase was a modest 4,500 jobs, a fraction of the 30,400 jobs created in California in June.

The new numbers pushed California back to the 12 percent threshold for the first time since March. They also left California with the nation's second highest unemployment rate, behind Nevada's 12.9 percent.

In the four-county Sacramento area, unemployment rose one-tenth of a point to 12.5 percent.

The region lost 10,400 jobs. The loss was mostly seasonal, as thousands of teachers were let go at the end of the school year.

But it was also indicative of the school district budget cuts and pink slips of recent times. The cutbacks were very high by historical standards, said EDD labor market analyst Justin Wehner.

Some 13,000 local education jobs disappeared in July, leaving school districts with 10 percent fewer employees than a year ago....snipped

California is still the largest GDP producer in the USA. Until it comes out of its recession it will be difficult for the US to recover. Some counties have real high rates
