Notice how the media has totally dropped the part about him claiming a crime publicly - and blaming Vast Right Wing Hackers?

There is no penalty whatsoever for blaming the Right Wing for your personal failings and bad character. See Hillary Clinton.

Whether or when Weiner resigns may turn on what his pregnant wife deems necessary, presuming she agrees to stay with him, His resignation could well become a condition of her abiding him. Of course, the spouses of politicians often themselves reside on the extremities of the Bell curve. So my supposition here may founder on an inappropriate extrapolation from how my own household works.

Hillary got a Senate Seat out of her Husband's affinity for college-age interns serving Pizza and serving him while he was on the phone with Senators.

Maybe Huma has political aspirations?

"the Huma bird is said to be phoenix-like, consuming itself in fire every few hundred years, only to rise anew from the ashes. The creature is often referred to as bird of paradise.[5][8] The Huma bird is said to have both the male and female natures in one body, each nature having one wing and one leg"

If he can be politically useful theirs will remain a marriage of convenience (see FDR, the Clinton's as useful examples). He will re-emerge after an appropriate period of atonement because the press liked his pit bull mentality when it came to the right. Look how often, before his photographic escapades, he appeared on the talk shows.

I find it amusing (in a cynical way) to see how many "disgraced" former politicians have found their way to the airwaves to opine on the Weiner imbroglio. Goes to show something though what exactly I am not sure.

We need a Fact Checker for Congress on the order of the Duke Fact Checker - someone who is dogged in his efforts and funny to boot!

I suspect Weiner will have problems as deep as someone is willing to look. The problem is there's no appetite for that in Congress.

.
Generally speaking. things do not occur in a vacuum. My guess is that if one scratches the Weiner surface that there are all sorts of things that either should have been done that weren't or things that were done that should not have been done.

I doubt that the Democrats in Congress have the will to push him to resign. On the face of it, short of engaging in sending pornographic material to or propositioning a minor, it seems that what he has done is not against the law. Therefore, as tasteless as his actions have been, I do not think that it rises to the level of Barney Frank's behavior - providing a job for his lover at Fannie May; that of the LA representative who kept cold hard cash in his office refrigerator - the bribes that he took; the many activities of John Murtha-----none of them lost their seats due to actions by the Democratic leadership/Congress.

I am not by any means condoning his activities. However, for all the blathering, I would be hard-pressed (given the lack of criminal activity) why he should be forced to resign. Now, from a moral standpoint, he should have had the sense to resign immediately. But then again, if he had any moral fiber, he would not have engaged in such activity from the get go.
"...some are more equal" (especially Democrats!)

Agatha,

That was a funny post!

Sexting scandal inspires Anthony Weiner doll
Posted: 6:56 a.m. today
Updated: 14 minutes ago

NEW YORK — An online action figure company has jumped on the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal bandwagon with a doll of the New York congressman in two versions: censored and uncensored.

HeroBuilders.com of Oxford, Conn., is offering the "standard" doll for $39.95 and the anatomically correct "for adults only" version for an extra $10.

Both are dressed in a gym shirt and shorts with a label that reads "Tweet This."

Weiner has acknowledged exchanging messages and photos that ranged from sexually suggestive to explicit with several women online.

Congress on Monday approved a two-week leave of absence for Weiner while he seeks treatment.

The action figure company also makes a plastic Sarah Palin, Barack and Michelle Obama and other talk-of-the-town figures.

Obama on Monday said he'd resign if he were in Weiner's shoes.

There was and is a "Fact Checker" type group that tracked Weiner and all of his social networking accounts.

Thanks....I must have missed them somehow.

There should be one for all of Congress and the members of the executive branch as well......my guess is that some mighty interesting things would be revealed.

Have we honestly gotten to the point where a married man, A United States Congressman, can send a photo of his erect Penis over the Internet to another woman and it makes no difference?

If we expect so little of our Leaders where do the the rest of us go?

One of the most crucial qualities of a Leader is to set an example

Well, BJ got a BJ from an intern in the WH and if he hadn't got caught lying about it, it apparently wouldn't have mattered...

Even the wives seem to be overlooking the behavior...as if it's just the way men behave...

I find it interesting that NOW and other such groups have been quite silent on this whole affair. In fact, dufus Jeanne Garafolo had some nonsense about Weiner was being picked on.

I don't know....sometimes I think that the week I went with no internet and no newspaper while in KC was as close to heaven on earth as one could get.......my only concern was reading about Elizabeth I and then about the Enlightenment and Romanticism.

Yes, Baldo, and which Party wants no standards whatsoever?

Notice how in some circles the discussion has been about Men doing this - like all men do it. Claire Shipman and a round table took the conversation to Female CEO's performing better than Male CEOs.

My 20 year old son was shocked at Weiner's behavior, so there have to be many young men (and women) out there who are scratching their heads over actions of our leaders.

Just knowing that half the world has seen her husband's private parts, how can Huma not want to just crawl in a hole? Do liberals spend so much time doing damage control that they don't even think about what Weiner has done?

Some things in society are just taboo!

Yes we are at that point. We have been at point for a while. Most people don't expect much out of their politicians these days. That's why such bad ones keep getting sent back to Washington and local state houses. Hate to bring up Clinton again but he is the perfect example how standards have been lowered so much. Even before his impeachment there was the Gennifer Flowers episode that would have sunk most political presidential candidates. I really think Bill Clinton taught politicians that they might be able to get away with anything.

The only thing that really surprised me is that Weiner didn't just admit to what he did when the story first broke. The guy is in an extremely liberal district. From recent polling it is obvious his voters don't care enough to not reelect the guy. I also think his polling numbers would be higher if he would have just manned up and told the truth.

The only thing that disappoints me here is that he blatantly lied like he did and blamed others. If a republican would have done that the media would have torn him apart. If a republican would have pulled the treatment thing they would be waiting for him at the exit of the treatment center ready to tear him a new one.

You're right - a Republican would have immediately been crushed. What I resent is that the Left uses the excuse that since Republicans are "values based" then they "have it coming" when they mess up. They are held to a higher standard than Democrats.

And the Republicans keep putting up with the liberal bias.
