That's most likely him. Reginald Eugene Day.

Thank you Maggie!

So the Media has pictures of him. They have his DMV picture. They have other pictures, but they're not going there.

Daye and Mangum had been dating for about a month, but they weren't a couple, his aunt, Marie Ettson, said Thursday. She described Daye as a gentleman who worked as a painter, enjoyed fishing and believed in second chances.

Fight over hammer turns bloody; 1 man slain, co-worker wounded
Herald-Sun, The (Durham, NC) - Thursday, June 12, 1997
Author: KENT E. WALKER The Herald-Sun
A fight that started over a hammer turned a house-construction site bloody Wednesday afternoon, leaving one man dead and another wounded.

For the second time in two days, police sectioned off a Durham shooting scene -- the city's 14th homicide this year.

A group of workers were remodeling a one-story house on North Hyde Park Avenue when two of the workers began arguing, witness Reginald Daye said. Daye was also working on the house, which sits on about a half-acre city lot at 209 N. Hyde Park Ave.

Daye, 33, who was on the roof when the argument began, said the victim took the suspect's hammer to do some work. The victim and suspect shortly got into a heated argument about the victim using the hammer, Daye said. The tempers continued to escalate, turning into a fistfight. Eventually, each man grabbed a weapon, Daye said.

The victim allegedly grabbed a machete and cut the suspect, who then shot him with a pistol from the street in front of the house, Durham Police Sgt. A.J. Carter said.

The victim grabbed the machete from a bicycle parked nearby and the suspect took a pistol out of his truck, according to police and witnesses.

Carter said the suspect was standing beside his truck when the victim charged at him, swinging the machete. "(The suspect) tried to block him, but he chopped him in the arm with the machete. It laid his arm open," Carter said.

The victim ran at the suspect again and cut him a second time, Carter said. That's when the suspect fired his gun, shooting the victim in the face.

Afterward, the victim lay on the pavement, covered with a bloodied white sheet while a crowd gathered. Officers also found a hammer lying in the street.

The wounded suspect apparently left the scene on foot. He later drove himself to the hospital.

Carter said no charges were filed Wednesday. Detectives will talk to the Durham County district attorney to determine whether any charges will be filed.

Daye, the co-worker who witnessed the violence, said he didn't take the fight too seriously when it began, thinking things would settle down.

But once the weapons came out, Daye said he didn't think about breaking up the fight.

"You don't help nobody when there's somebody with a gun," he said.

After Durham firefighters hosed off the blood-stained street, after the detectives and coroner had left and after the curious onlookers cleared the scene, Daye talked somberly with the house owner and other workers.

Before climbing up an old wooden ladder to collect his green tool bag, Daye shook his head in disbelief.

"Here's another funeral I'm going to," he said.

The Friends of Crystal Mangum raised concerns early about the conflict in interest of Duke Hospital in medically treating this alleged victim of Ms. Mangum. They suggested that due to the University being subject to major civil liability that the alleged victim should be transferred elsewhere and treated. The organization is saddened at this lost of life.

The guy was a Painter and a Fisherman.

Never know from the media. Seems to have stayed out of trouble, from what we know now.

Maybe he told Crystal she needed to get a job. Up ladders 12 hours a day, may be hard to get Crystal's lifestyle.

That was before the Turd was polished and it became these separate events unrelated to the attack - and the Autopsy PR strategy.

Think about it, if he was taken to a hospital farther away (Durham Regional) and delayed treatment, what would they be saying? If they had moved him (a medically risky maneuver), and he died at Durham Regional, then it would be they gave him something and Duke and moved him so they wouldn't be holding the dead man.

It's a completely irresponsible and dumb-ass statement by FoCM. As I said before, it disregards Daye's medical condition and the treatment wishes of the family, who seem to have long associations with Duke and the Medical Center.

What I want is confirmation in the press of what we've heard here: that Daye was not just "stabbed in the torso" but that he was stabbed SEVEN TIMES. If that's the case, why not mention the number of wounds in the article? Whether it was one or seven wounds would have implications for a self-defense theory of the crime, no?

It would also be nice for the press to challenge the metanarrative that her life went to pot after the lacrosse case, i.e. that the lacrosse team and the AG set her down the road to ruin. Looking at the record of CGM's life, that's sort of like arguing that the South's defeat at Gettysburg was the casus belli that led to the Civil War.

I'd also like to challenge Vince Clark about one thing: you say she has had trouble getting employed and hasn't been able to hold the jobs she gets for long because of her reputation. OK, Vince, show me a W-2 for CGM showing earnings from a real employer (not, say, Jackie Wagstaff Misinformation Inc. or FIRE Films) from 2007-2011. Just ONE, Vince.

Of course, I'm not a reporter, so what do I know about getting at the truth?

Well, you gotta work hard looking, really hard, but there is this:

"Police in Durham, N.C., say Crystal Mangum, whose sensational allegations against three Duke lacrosse players inflamed racial tensions across the country in 2006, stabbed Reginald Daye multiple times during a fight in the couple's apartment April 3."

http://www.aolnews.com/2011/04/15/duke-lacrosse-accuser-crystal-mangum-may-face-murder-charges/

Of course, there's 325 other articles that only say she stabbed Reginald Daye in the Torso.

And she doesn't work and have reportable income - it was like that long before Duke Lacrosse.

I remember the News and Observer writers openly lamenting the fact that black crime victims do not get the coverage of white crime victims - and they called it racism.

Here, we have a black man that opened his home to another's kids and ends up being stabbed to death and the Media runs as fast as it can. The guy's a ghost. There is nothing.

Reginald Daye was buried long before his demise with this media.

A PARODY:

Quote:

A Letter to the UNC Community.

I want to speak to the issue that is troubling our community and announce five steps we are taking to address it.

Allegations against one of our graduates stemming from an altercation have deeply troubled me and everyone else at this university and our surrounding city. We can’t be surprised at the outpouring of outrage. Murder is the substitution of raw power for love, brutality for tenderness, and dehumanization for intimacy. It is also the crudest assertion of inequality, a way to show that the strong are superior to the weak and can rightfully use them as the objects of their pleasure. When reports of gender abuse are added to the mix, the evil is compounded, reviving memories of the systematic oppression we had hoped to have left behind us.

If the allegations are verified, what happened would be a deep violation of fundamental ethical principles and among the most serious crimes known to the legal system. Such conduct is completely unacceptable both within the university and in our society at large. If the truth of the allegations is upheld, it will call for severe punishment from the courts. This university has cooperated and will continue to cooperate to the fullest to speed the ongoing investigation by the police, and I pledge that UNC will respond with appropriate seriousness when the truth is established.

But it is clear that the acts the police are investigating are only part of the problem. This episode has touched off angers, fears, resentments, and suspicions that range far beyond this immediate cause. It has done so because the episode has brought to glaring visibility underlying issues that have been of concern on this campus and in this town for some time—issues that are not unique to Durham but that have been brought to the fore in our midst.

In keeping with these values, I want to announce five steps UNC will take to address the issues before us. Some will be accomplished in a short period of time; others will require our sustained attention.

Boyfriend of Duke Lacrosse Accuser Dies After Stabbing

April 15, 2011

(snip)

As reported by The Herald-Sun of Durham on Thursday, it is still unclear if Daye's death is a direct result from the April 3rd stabbing, and the 32-year-old Magnum could face additional charges, but remains uncharged.

Sure nice that some defendants get the benefit of every doubt, and then some...

Winston Smith: Calling the O.J. Simpson jury! Crystal Mangum to be charged with murder

Category: The Files of Winston Smith

(snip)

Since then, Mangum has rightly become a leper in the hate industry. She is so infectious that the NAACP, the $PLC, and Jack$on’s Rainbow Push Coalition have purged their websites of all references to Crystal Mangum. But that didn’t stop her from insisting upon her purity of heart in her worst-selling ghost-written account of the incident, titled Last Dance for Grace.

She also insists that being the perpetratress of a hoax that destroyed so many lives and threw a tanker’s load of gas on America’s racial fire has unfairly damaged her reputation; in 2010, after being charged with five counts of arson, assault, ID theft, resisting arrest, three counts of child endangerment, and [at the time] attempted murder, she said that her involvement in the Duke lacrosse case had influenced police handling of the case.

“I do feel that I am being unjustly treated because of preconceived notions about my character in the media.”

(Pardon me for asking, Miss Mangum, but what notions of your character are we supposed to have?)

And now, the man she stabbed is dead, and she will face a murder charge. She will tell the jury that part of the reason she killed him was the pain and anguish she has suffered since being exposed as the most inept race-hustling
hoaxer since Al $harpton’s Tawana Brawley fiasco.
