Why not Georgia Goslee as co-counsel? Ted can be the investigator along with Linwood.

Will Greta be covering the trial? What where's Cousin Clyde going to sit?
Maybe Wendy Murrphy as co-counsel?
It will be difficult to tell where Clyde is sitting since they don't have a "drag queen" section in the courtroom.

Time to Call Cousin Jakke/Clyde Yancey since your pal Woody Vann is defending her AGAIN?

RALEIGH, N.C. The woman who falsely accused Duke lacrosse players of raping her will plead not guilty to assaulting her live-in boyfriend, who died after nearly two weeks in a local hospital.

Woody Vann, the lawyer representing Crystal Mangum, says his client will formally enter the plea at her arraignment, which hasn't been scheduled.

Mangum has been jailed since the April 3 incident. She's charged with assault, but Durham police say more serious charges may be filed following the Wednesday death of 46-year-old Reginald Daye

"I found her to be credible, pretty straightforward," Vann said. "Whenever I needed something she got it, and it tended to corroborate what she told me."

//

"Do I think Mike wishes he would have given a handful of interviews instead of 50? I'm sure he does," said Durham attorney Woody Vann , who represented the alleged victim in a criminal case four years ago but is not involved in the current case.

Vann said the prosecutor's bold initial remarks were "a little out of character. He's usually a little more subdued and measured in his statements."

//

Woody Vann , a Durham lawyer who defended the woman, said recently that when the case went to court in 2003, he was ready to present 10 character witnesses for his client. She struck him as responsible because she admitted wrongdoing in the case, he said.

//

Durham attorney Woody Vann , who represented the woman during that incident, said she made a mistake four years ago and completed her punishment. The woman has not returned several messages left by The Associated Press at her home in the past several days.

"She is keeping a very low profile," said Vann, who is not representing the woman now but has had some contact with her in recent days.

//

"An accuser can give five different stories, but if all of them indicate she was raped, it's got to go to a jury," said Vann.

Reasonable doubt?

Still, a large number of inconsistencies easily could create reasonable doubt and sway jurors toward acquittal in any given case, Vann added.

"Contradictions are very relevant, amazingly relevant, as they apply to a jury's evaluation of the evidence," he said.

//

Nifong has "eliminated the most difficult charge he had to prove," says Woody Vann , a Durham defense attorney who's familiar with the case. "Does this make his case better? No, it just makes it easier."

//

"If she can keep herself out of the limelight, she can probably over a period of time regain her ability to live in and among the community," said Woody Vann , a Durham attorney who once represented the accuser. "People have done worse than this."

//

"It's still kind of difficult for me to see how we got here," said Woody Vann , a lawyer in Durham. "It is kind of a tragedy. (Nifong) reached a certain height and ... he got presented with a matter that was just more than he could handle."

I apologize if this is duplicate.

"(This is) a tragic situation all the way around," said Jackie Wagstaff, a former member of the Durham City Council and the Durham County Board of Education and a long-time supporter of Mangum.

'"My heart goes out to the family of (Daye)," Wagstaff said, adding that she worries that Mangum will be tried based on her past. "Her fate has been sealed in the court of public opinion because of Duke lacrosse."

In March 2006, Mangum claimed three white players on the Duke lacrosse team trapped her inside a bathroom at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd., where she was performing as a stripper at a team party, and raped and sexually assaulted her.

Her story about the incident was so inconsistent that state officials later declared the players innocent, saying there was no credible evidence against them.

"I just want people to wait and don’t jump to any conclusions. There are always two sides to the story,” Vincent Clark, who wrote a book with Mangum about her experience in the lacrosse case, said Thursday after hearing of Daye's death.

In February 2010, police arrested Mangum after an altercation between her and a different boyfriend. In that incident, she was accused of assaulting the man in front of her children and setting some of his clothes on fire.

She was convicted in December of child abuse, injury to personal property and resisting a public officer in the case, but prosecutors dismissed an arson charge after a jury couldn't reach a verdict.

Jury forewoman Shauna Mitchell said Thursday that she and her fellow jurors followed the law in determining there wasn't enough evidence to convict Mangum of arson, which was the most serious charge in the case.

"I think that it’s very unfortunate that it happened," Mitchell said of Daye's death. "It still doesn’t change the verdict we came up with."

I wonder what the victim really had in mind when he opened his home to CGM and her kids.

It was reported in an early interview(the nephew?) printed in our first thread that he believed THE Crystal Mangum could get him on tv and other national media.

Well,just this once in her life, Crystal really was on the level. She got him exactly what she promised him.

Daye and Mangum had been dating for about a month, but they weren't a couple, his aunt, Marie Ettson, said Thursday. She described Daye as a gentleman who worked as a painter, enjoyed fishing and believed in second chances.

Ettson said Daye was trying to help Mangum get back on her feet, and she said she is praying for Mangum.

"I hate what she did, but I don't hate her," Ettson said.

If murder is charged it takes a lot of money to defend. Is Woody Vann taking it pro bono? Who is going to pay the costs?

Or is the Durham & NC taxpayers going to pick up Woody's tab? If not who is picking up the tab?

Perhaps he is just a surrogate at this moment, just trying to keep a lid on it.
She has sucked Durham dry.

Seriously, I thought most of Crystal's friends were trying to get her off her feet.

The Friends of Crystal Mangum raised concerns early about the conflict in interest of Duke Hospital in medically treating this alleged victim of Ms. Mangum. They suggested that due to the University being subject to major civil liability that the alleged victim should be transferred elsewhere and treated. The organization is saddened at this lost of life.

I would expect nothing less from the Friends of Crystal Mangum than to try to place blame elsewhere. Placing blame elsewhere is exactly what caused this tragedy. Perhaps the FoCM can be held civilly responsible for this death??

I hope someone other than the FoCM is caring for her children and they are being taught to take responsibility for their actions. My thoughts/prayers go out to Mr Daye's family.

:D Egr93:
"FoCM" The phonetic says it all.
