This is from early on in the arrest when the media was trying to figure out Daye 's last name.

Anthony McCullough, who lives nearby, said the victim's name is Reggie Wilson. According to McCullough, who said he's a friend of Wilson, Mangum moved in to Wilson's apartment with her children a few days after they started dating.

McCullough said Mangum stabbed Wilson several times and that he is in "bad shape."

“The reason that I took this case is because this case says something about Durham that I’m not going to let be said,” said Nifong. “I’m not going to allow Durham’s view in the minds of the world to be a bunch of lacrosse players at Duke raping a black girl from Durham.”

The reason you took the case you lying bastard is to line your pockets with additional retirement income at the expense of three innocent boys. You could care less about a black girl in Durham.

IT'S WOODY VANN :

RALEIGH, N.C. The woman who falsely accused Duke lacrosse players of raping her will plead not guilty to assaulting her live-in boyfriend, who died after nearly two weeks in a local hospital.

Woody Vann, the lawyer representing Crystal Mangum, says his client will formally enter the plea at her arraignment, which hasn't been scheduled.

Mangum has been jailed since the April 3 incident. She's charged with assault, but Durham police say more serious charges may be filed following the Wednesday death of 46-year-old Reginald Daye.

That was quick! Woody's fb has been reset.

So the court appointed Woody Vann?

Does anyone know when? It must have been before the death.

Law Offices of Edward Falcone and H. Wood Vann

His "brilliant" commentary back in June 2006

[H. Wood Vann, a lawyer in Durham,] said Mr. Nifong could drop the case, but the political price would be high. "He'd have hell to pay from the African-American community," he said. "They'd say, 'Give her her day in court. What do you have to lose? If you lose, at least the jury made the decision.' So he's kind of stuck."

That is H. Wood Vann's ethical standards for a DA?

Early on the N&O served up THIS tabloid fictional nonsense, which helped to ignite the fire :

Quote:

o "This was the first time she had been hired to dance provocatively for a group, she (the accuser) said."

[I guess pole dancing at a club doesn't count...]

o The accuser was "struggling not to cry as she recounted the events of the early hours of March 14."

o She was a Mother with "two children, and a full class load at N.C. Central University."

o "She hesitated to tell police what happened, she said Friday. She realized she had to, for her young daughter and her father."

o ""We started to cry," she said. "We were so scared.""

o This quote from a law professor was included in the article: "There was a sense of, 'This is sad, and it's terrible,' "

o "The petite, soft-spoken woman is described by friends as a caring Mother and a hard worker.
According to people who have talked with her about her studies at NCCU, she also is a serious student who recently received an A in a difficult course."

o This quote was served up, ""I couldn't fault a woman for taking care of her family and trying to pay the bills."

o They even tell us of her activites on March 24th (well, some of them): "the woman spent the morning inside her parents' home as her two young children explored the yard."

o "Upon learning that reports of her allegations had surfaced in the newspaper, she put a hand over her mouth and gasped. Tears welled in her eyes."

I think the N&O owes an explanation for how they could print this (especially when in their own archives they had
stories of her past) ; and

when they omitted from her interview some details that could have derailed the narrative :

"Mangum … said she thought the other woman hired to dance with her also had been assaulted." […]

"Mangum said that although she did not witness it, she thought the second dancer was sexually assaulted but didn't come forward because she would lose her job as an escort.

'I got the feeling she would do just about anything for money
,' Mangum said of the second dancer, Kim Roberts."

If you click "friends" you now longer see the 198 names. Yeah, I think that's the number.

Weird. Maybe you have to be logged in to see his friends. I'm not facebook savvy.

Well, you see, more twists and turns.

Woody, who defended the ethics of Mike Nifong and the propped up the fable called Crystal Mangum.

A Hoaxster. When I found out Woody's in the Saddle, the first Question that comes to mind is, who's the Judge?

Woody's import was his relationship to the D.A. and the Judge. You bought a Durham Justice Insider in Woody. If the Judge is from another area, that import is muted considerably. At that point, he may bring on Ted Williams to assist him.

Why not Georgia Goslee as co-counsel? Ted can be the investigator along with Linwood.

Will Greta be covering the trial? What where's Cousin Clyde going to sit?

Maybe Wendy Murrphy as co-counsel?
