Woody Vann quotes (from earlier cases involving Mangum) : “She was calm but wanting to get some help. She was feeling overwhelmed. She never gave me any reason not to think of her as a credible person.” “Mike the trial attorney is exceptionally prepared, talented, and in regard how he runs a case in court, very professional. When he was trying cases ... you had to know he was going to be prepared. Very prepared.” |

. . . and "the new Republicans elected to the House of Representatives last November came to Congress “to kill women" . . . and 2012 GOP Nominees are like a ‘Dog Pound’ and ‘Pig Pen’. . .and Governor Scott Walker’s union bill is like the “crucifixion of Dr. King.” yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah. Do these people ever listen to themselves speak? Hyperbole and personal put downs are their only skill set.

Desty engaged? Damn, I need to buy a present. Working in the yard today...maybe I'll send him some of the enormous rocks I dig up because he is as dumb as a rock. I wonder if his future wife to be likes WWF and Transformers? What an intellect! |

http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/9441081/ Man's death will likely add to Duke lacrosse accuser's charges Posted: 30 minutes ago Durham, N.C. — More charges are likely against the Durham woman who falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of rape in 2006 after her boyfriend died following a recent stabbing, police said Thursday. Crystal Mangum, 32, was charged last week with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Her court-appointed attorney, Woody Vann, said Thursday that she would plead not guilty to the charge. Reginald Daye, 46, died late Wednesday from injuries he suffered in an April 3 stabbing in his apartment, at 3507 Century Oaks Drive. Police said Daye was stabbed in the torso with a kitchen knife during an argument. A man who said he was Daye's nephew called 911 to report the stabbing, saying it occurred while Daye and his girlfriend were arguing about rent money. snip...... |

Wonder if Ashley Cannon will go to the wedding? (And he and Crystal graduated in the same class in High School--maybe she'll attend? |

If murder is charged it takes a lot of money to defend. Is Woody Vann taking it pro bono? Who is going to pay the costs? Or is the Durham & NC taxpayers going to pick up Woody's tab? If not who is picking up the tab? Perhaps he is just a surrogate at this moment, just trying to keep a lid on it. |

I will tell you that the defense will be this: Crystal Mangum was doing well until those Duke lacrosse players raped and beat her. (Ask the Duke administration; they'll tell you that is what happened.) From there, however, her life spiraled downward and she had a flashback to the rape when she stabbed Daye to death. Not everyone in Durham will buy that story, but enough will to enable her to have a hung jury, with the prosecution dropping all charges because it cannot get a conviction. Look, a lot of people in Durham and at Duke invested everything in Crystal's hoax. They won't stop now; they'll just get more creative -- if that is possible.

So the "in-crowd" at the court appoints another member of the "in-crowd"? And the state will pay his fees and expenses (since he is appointed)? Curious... Next it will be Judge Hardin who will hear the case... |
