I am not one who should criticize others for their writing skills. I do my best, but the focus of my education was engineering and science. On the Blog I was fortunate to be associated with some excellent writers. More than one was a graduate of Duke University. I was always impressed with their writing skills.

I can, however, read quite well and know the difference between horse crap and a well structured sentences. I find it absolutely shocking a professor with a prestigious degrees from top rate universities can't express herself with clarity. That is the tool of their trade trade

Recently I listened to Stanley Fish and Roger Rosenblatt (Apr 1, 2011 on Charlie Rose) discuss writing as their craft. It is wonderful & enlightening.

The Recitation of Sins is about Education now. These “angry studies” are toxic. Many of us did not know this until we ourselves were educated throughout 2006-7. Once again Duke proved to be an amazing place of “higher education.”

Is it in the political, professional and financial interest of some to keep us angry and separated? Was the possible incarceration of three innocent kids for 30-40 years…seen as a “cash-cow” to some? Is this the underside of “Best for Duke?”

The trend towards this education seems to be sweeping the world. I'd guess it was transplanted here from Europe, which is openly heading the opposite direction now.

Good job Joan!

This Beau Dure wrote some rather conflicting messages, from which it was clear to me where many parts of that message was headed. He shifts direction even within the same sentence a few times.
