1. You don't understand the dynamics of the black household, y'all. 2. Crystal's newest boyfriend doesn't understand the dynamics of the CGM household. 3. "Ain't nothing goin' on but the rent; if you wanna stay with me, you gotta get (give) a J-O-B..." |

I voted jail for 6 months or less. It isn't what she deserves, and it may even be more than she actually gets. |

What should happen and what will happen will be two entirely different things. The best thing for CMG would be that she is hospitalized, treated for her demons, set on the right path, monitored and then hopefully returned to society and her children. Her children would also be given help so that they do not resort to the lifestyle that their mother has embraced. This is what I voted for though in my heart of hearts I do not think this will happen. Rather, she will be sentenced for time served. There will be no trial - she will plead guilty to a lesser charge for which the prosecutor, defense attorney, and judge will all agree that the sentence will amount to time already served. This will allow her supporters to say continue with the charade that Crystal has not been able to tell "her story". It will keep the prosecutor's office from having to ask some possibly damaging questions - particularly if Crystal's lawyer this time decides to play hardball figuring that she can finesse a better deal for Crystal. The real losers in all this will once again be her children. |

The sad thing also will be when someone is forced to hurt Crystal in self defense. Crystal again will be the victim and the real victim will be sentenced to jail. She will ultimately force someone to act violently against her and maybe that's actually what she seeks. |

It probably will be just a matter of time. It seems that the violence is escalating. |

IMHO, as long as she continues to identify herself as the perpetual victim, she is beyond help. Without contrition, she will continue the downward spriral. Her supporters are aiding her psychological disorders, lack of remorse being one of them. |

maggief: That is so true.....one has to recognize that one has a problem before that problem can be overcome. CGM's enablers bear a large responsibility in her ongoing problems as they reassure her that she is the victim, that her problems are the result of others. IMHO nothing will improve fore her, only get worse. It is like watching two trains speeding toward each other on the same track - you know what is going to happen - the question is how soon. |

I voted for mental institution although I think she will try to avoid it at all costs. To maintain her victim status she will plead innocent and claim she was defending herself. It's her word against Daye's; it worked in the Duke hoax and it's bound to work again (she will believe). Her handlers will give her a makeover and she will play the part of the domestic abuse survivor. Hung jury and she walks. |

IMO, no, absolutely NO mental illness plea will ever be allowed to tarnish Sister Survivor.. It is essential that Mangum be the well-balanced near genius who deserved that Magna Cum Laude degree, and the clear-thinking victim of those sons of privilege. The righteousness of "something happened" must be preserved. Mangum could burst naked into the pediatric ward at DUMC claiming she was Mary Poppins..and the Listeners at Duke and her posse in Durham would insist it was Performance Art. She walks. |

If it goes to jury trial, she will be found guilty. People are tired of crystal and her abusing people, especially her children. I am hoping for the maximum sentence. I do not think that a mental hospital can help her. One has to want to get better to get better. All she wants is money, a boyfriend who will take care of her children, and parties. |

Based on Durham history vis a vis Crystal, you are on the money Joan. Chatham, you are allowing your optimistic spirit to cloud your thinking. It ain't go'in to happen in Durham. Unless you are privy to something we don't know, I think you give the Durhamites too much credit. |

Chatham may be correct, depends on how the charges are reduced. What did the last jury do???? |
