TD has hit on something I have suspected for a while. Crystal has a sugar daddy with connections.
I have observed that Crystal is a mid-level prostitute. She does a lot of outcall work on weekends. Leading up to the fiasco, she and her driver made the rounds in Raleigh and the park hotels. She had at least three outcalls. Figure at least $500 for the solo calls, and $1000 for the couple call. She grossed no less than $2000 that weekend alone. The fact that she had a driver means she was no newbie. And my sources tell me that she was and remained a regular on the outcall circuit until her most recent arrest. Another source (and it pays to have sources in very low places) tells me that her business while not flourishing in jail is still ongoing.
Walt-in-Durham There must be some men in the Triangle area that really are deprived or something. Crystal is just not a high-quality product.

Of course the reality is that probably most of the money is from drug-trafficking. That being the case, likely the DPD are business partners with Crystal.

The questions are how many and who? She would have to have more than one person making things go away...or at the very least, someone who is high enough up and controls enough people (knows enough dirt on underlings) that they are willing to do his (or her) bidding.
I would think that there would be some concern about STD's given the rounds that Crystal made......and particularly, if business is still ongoing in the county pokey.

That is all very interesting. What interests me is how Crystal has financed her education (aside from her hooking activities). Did she have student loans? If so, who served as the guarantor for those loans (Mr. cks and I signed for our daughter for law school since she had no job - nor could she work more than ten hours a week due to law school stipulations). How is she supporting her children, paying for her apartment (when she is not moving in with the boyfriend du jour)? How does she afford a driver? Her weaves, nails, etc. are an expense as well - is she claiming these as work related expenses? Has she filed income taxes? As the saying goes...inquiring minds want to know.
I looked into this issue at the time because the claim by her supporters was that she was stripping (and everything else) in order to put herself through college. Tuition at state universities in North Carolina is really low. As near as I could tell, tuition at NCCU at the time was low enough that a Pell Grant would have covered it entirely without the need for any loans. As for room and board, she lived at her parent’s house and thereby enjoyed free daycare as well. Her education related expenses were potentially zero and any money she made (presumably not reported to the IRS) went straight to the bottom line.

Did she have a grant for that? Has she been a full-time student? Supposedly she was not living at home.....she had an apartment. How was she paying for that and school?

Of course the reality is that probably most of the money is from drug-trafficking. That being the case, likely the DPD are business partners with Crystal. Re: Crystal's rumored ties to/dirt on Durm big wigs/"sugar daddies", I've always been intrigued by the good Dr. Victor Olatoye.
Durham's very own strip club ownin', sex-trade leechin', airline ownin', reputedly guns-n-drug traffickin' Dr. Olatoye.
Why hasn't he been properly vetted?
(Fear of waking up with a decapitatied horse's head in bed with you is a perfectly acceptable answer.)

I always thought it was the "cowBell", however, you seem to be on to a better possibility. I hope we have archived material on the good doctor. I think he was actually referenced here in the last couple of days.
