Walt and JSwift, thank you both for reminding us that even when so-o-o weary, we should try to connect with our better selves.

Any locals gonna try and be at the arraignment tomorrow? I can't go - I have a hearing in Jonesboro to attend at 9:30 AM.

Unfortunately, I feel like we could write the script.

She will not comment and others will come to her defense as the defenseless little lamb works her scheming again.

More men will appear to defend her and promulgate her story. The victim's background and behavior will be called into question. While CGM remains silent, people will go before the Press to tell her story and defame others.

Her sordid affairs always include her insults of a male organ.

Why would she a change a thing - it works for her. Has a stranger ever paid your Bail?

Hello Barry, I know you will be putting in some overtime at the N&O tonight especially since your poster girl has her ass in the ringer again. Writing those long epistles about those carpetbagging yankees can get really taxing. What time would you like your fish sandwich and Yahoo?
.
It's that time of year.

Bravo!

From WRAL:

Investigators believe that Mangum stabbed her 46-year-old boyfriend in the torso during a dispute at 3507 Century Oaks Drive around 3:15 a.m., police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.

A reverse White Pages search shows that a Melvin Riddick, age 59, is said to live at that address. So it is not clear from the address who was the stabbing victim.

Of course this is an Associated Press story and not anything from the efforts of the N&O staff (it is a Sunday after all).

Her defense will probably be mental illness, but I don't think that will fly.

I predict that she will claim self-defense. Her boyfriend assaulted her, and she stabbed him in self-defense.

Remember that Sidney (presumably on her behalf) claimed that Milton Walker had punched her in the face repeatedly during the last argument. (She obviously is a remarkably quick healer; neither the photographs taken two days after a brutal gang rape nor her booking photographs from her last arrest showed any facial injuries.)

In all fairness, I do intend to wait until more evidence is released to draw any conclusions. Who knows, her choice of boyfriends has not been all that great.

Mike: you beat me to the punch.

JSwift: yes :) "you can see it coming from a mile away" (as the expression goes) "as sure as eggs is eggs."

Again, it will be interesting as to whether he has other so-called defensive
wounds, where it's clear he was trying to stop her from stabbing him.

I don't think there's any guarantee that she'll do time for this -- we'll have
to see how it plays out (well, I guess she's doing time right now ...)

What was mother of the year doing out at that time of night? Shouldn't she be at home with her young ones?

I stand by my "criminally insane" statement.

She'll have to prove her innocence to me, and if convicted, it may or not be sorted out on appeal...

I don't know about defensive wounds. This was was well into the morning or into the night.

I know a guy that was playing pool in his own house and he sat back in a chair (in the pool room) and closed his eyes - and he was stabbed in the chest by someone that a friend had brought with him announced to play pool that night.

That was a real stabbing because the guy went on somewhat of spree that night after fleeing the home - and taking their car, obviously, there were no defensive wounds.

JSwift, you are absolutely right she will claim self-defense but she may add a mental illness defense to that.

I may be wrong, but I think this time Crystal may have gone too far (if the evidence shows she did the stabbing) and the judicial system will throw the book at her with a prison sentence of a couple of years.

Of course, this prediction would be true in any other jurisdiction, but we are dealing with Durham justice.

Yeah, but how many of us thought she went too far when she set her house on fire with her kids in it.

The Durham authorities seem afraid of Crystal (and what she represents) and what if she gets another jury where the Foreperson has a brother in Prison and he or she is keeping their Pit Bill until they get back on the street. That Jury seemed to buy into the idea that they were coming down too hard on poor Crystal - and they were convinced of that without Sister Crystal ever having to say a word.

I also did a reverse address search and found 11 hits, including a couple of people with the same last name. Sounds like a building divided up into a number of living units, like an apartment building or rooming house.

And, no, Barry Saunders does not live there.

I'm rather surprised this happened so soon since some of us predicted that Crystal would lie low for a year or so.

It's rather difficult to predict what a published author and degreed police psychology major might do!
