“Crystal is a very smart and very bright person,” --Victoria Peterson "She's not a flight risk. If she were a flight risk, she would already be gone," - Jackie Wagstaff What a contradiction. For someone so smart, she is too stupid to get out of Dodge. As for this: "...When a poor person is sexually assaulted by people with wealth and power, the cases go a little differently.”, words fail me. Not really, I have many words, but my words are not for polite society. |

I noticed the missing charges and convictions. Her earlier convictions (think it was pre-joy ride) have never shown up on the DOC list. I have them somewhere, but I know child abuse was among them. I will look on the old FR threads. How hard is it to get records expunged legally? Legal process aside, physically, is it just a matter of hitting a few keyboard keys and sealing the paper records? |

OT_anyone remember her parents address ? http://www.wral.com/news/news_briefs/story/9379377/ A man died in a Durham house fire Sunday evening, according to fire officials. Someone driving by saw smoke coming from 2126 Charles St. at about 5:10 p.m. and called 911. Firefighters found Earl Massey, 67, dead inside the home, authorities said. Authorities said the fire started on a futon in a bedroom, and they said they believe smoking materials ignited the blaze. Sometimes I wonder where the turnaround came in Crystal's life. Was there ever a time, as a little girl, where she was truly innocent and good? What happened? How did she end up here? I'm as far as you can get from a bleeding heart liberal. But I can't help wondering what happened along the way that turned this woman into this cesspool of degradation and evil. Today, Crystal is the perfect storm. Her personhood fragmented and destroyed by substances and people, and a system of PC distortions and outright lies. Where did she loose her conscience? Did she give it away or was it stolen? I am beginning to see Crystal as a victim. Not of the LAX players, nor of her boyfriends. But a victim of a system that always needs a victim to perpetuate its own wicked purposes. A system that robs dignity because it robs accountability, and it calls a lie "truth", and it calls truth a "lie". This system exists because of the bottom feeders who always need a cause to champion, and that cause, by definition, must be racist and sexist. I pity the child Crystal... the one who got lost along the way. I fear greatly for her own children, that this curse may be passed to them. It is all very sad. |

I look back to March of 2006 when a community castigated a Lacrosse team over false charges. I remember those candlelight vigils, the outrage, the tears for sister survivor. Meanwhile she was stripping at the Platinum Club. IMHO many in official Durham, including the MSM knew these charges were false. A NCCU student reporter discover disturbing details about Magnum. I won't critize her for not reporting because she was a student reporter, black, and MSM reporters knew about Crystal and never came forward for months, Separating truth, consequences April 4, 2006 As a reporter delves into a claim of rape against members of a lacrosse team, she wrestles with her own views on life and race. ...Then, in the course of her reporting, Bennett found people who said unflattering things about the accuser. They offered the kinds of details that defense attorneys hired private investigators to find, and Bennett wished she had never heard them. Now she and her editors at the Campus Echo had to decide what to do with them....snipped http://www.sptimes.com/2006/04/04/Worldandnation/Separating_truth__con.shtml Crystal Magnum has received far too many passes for her actions. I believe we know why, she was a young black woman in a city which had a horrible past of discrimination. She deserves no breaks because of what other young black women went through. Some use that for political purposes, some fear if they critize her they would be called racists, some are just sympathetic, some are just ignorant. Time for Durham to treat her for what she does as an individual, not past injustices that happened to other women. One day she might kill somebody. At a minimum look at the trauma she is causing her kids. |

Sometimes a child is a bad seed-no rhyme or reason. I believe she is the product of a system which which decided long ago blacks and other minorities needed extra help in every aspect of their lives. That is far different from being a victim. She has been given more chances than one person deserves. She always chose the path of least resistance. She's no victim. |

It wasn't a knife, it was a couch cushion handle for convenient pickup when house-cleaning. |

We had friends who had a son and a daughter. The family was always involved in church and school activities. When the Dad received a big promotion..he drove 1 1/2 hr each way, every day...so the kids would not be disrupted or have to leave the fine school they attended.. The son got into drugs and alcohol. All kinds of money was spent to get him help. He became occasionally violent. The stress of his problems destroyed the marriage, but the parents remained united to help him. He lied constantly...once convincing all of us that he had a job for over a year. (probably was supporting himself selling drugs.) At his grandfather's funeral, he stole family members wallets. Shortly after, he told his Dad, who had moved away that he had been beaten up, his rental home burned down. Because of the lying, his Dad asked me to drive over and look at the rental. It had been burned to the ground. That weekend, at 26, he was found dead in a motel of an overdose. This young man had so much love, so many opportunities, as much help as was humanly possible. Sometimes, there is no help that makes a difference...and no explanation that makes sense. This is my view of Crystal. |
