interesting article, here a small selection Inside Obama's Populist Makeover Howard Kurtz ....The tone was far different from Obama’s more bombastic approach toward business in 2009. “The one time I saw him visibly angry, it was over the bank bonuses during all the bailouts,” says former White House economist Jared Bernstein. “It really rankled him.” Bringing on former JPMorgan Chase executive Bill Daley as chief of staff last January didn’t hurt his relations with business. But one challenge remained: Obama’s Chicago confidant Valerie Jarrett had been acting as a liaison to the business community from the beginning—with few positive results. “She tells us whatever she thinks you want to hear and then there is no follow-up,” claims one business executive with frequent contact with Jarrett. “There is lots of happy talk ... but then nothing comes of it.” AOL founder Steve Case counters that Jarrett has been “very responsive” to executives, often emailing back within minutes, but concedes progress has been slow. “The first two years the business community felt the White House team didn’t really engage in business and not enough people on the team had the kind of experience we really needed. We thought they were tone deaf,” he says. Even some of Obama’s staunchest supporters acknowledge a perceived gap between promise and performance. They see a president who underestimated the challenge of the economic recovery and whose background as a law professor lacking real-life business experience left him unprepared to improvise on policy in a productive way. It fell to top environmental adviser Carol Browner, for instance, to tell the president-elect early on why he couldn’t spend much more than $3 billion building a high-tech electrical grid. Browner knew all the obstacles, that local laws would have to be circumvented and permits obtained. You can’t just build power wires where you want, she explained to a frustrated Obama. Andy Stern, who as the longtime head of the powerful SEIU union in 2008 relentlessly fought for Obama’s candidacy, sees a president who until recently tried to solve economic problems with abstract ideas rather than pragmatic solutions. “The administration has suffered from the large macroeconomic theories of Larry Summers and Tim Geithner that look more at formula and financing than day-to-day job creation,” says Stern, an advocate of the repatriation holiday. “They thought they had done what they needed to do, and they were wrong.” Democrats in Congress add to the indictment, charging that the president failed to sell his successes more aggressively, letting the opposition define them. “I think you need to talk about how poorly they do on message,” says House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of the president and his advisers. “They can’t see around corners; they anticipate nothing.”...snipped http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2011/10/02/inside-obama-s-populist-makeover.html Of course Pelosi , scatter brain liberal, just thinks they haven't sold their successes. DUH! It is sad to have our projections of his incompetence confirmed. Here is man in charge of the USA who clearly does not belong in that office and we have paid dearly. His ignorance of the real world is costing up money, time, and our future is being diminished. |

Hopefully some here will recall the "projections" the CBO put out for the "Stimulus" before Obama was elected, maybe about August prior to the election (I had posted the chart). The "recovery" projected was based upon numbers the Congress gave them, a super-majority Democratic Congress. It was obvious that the intent of the Stimulus was to feed the political agenda of the Democrats while the private sector corrected the economy ...they were riding the cycle and wasting crisis funds on what they wanted ...actually making it worse as Tim & Ben tossed together the flavors they were certain would bail the economy out while they moved that agenda forward. I'm not sure where Howard Kurtz got the information I quoted, but I am certain it is a perfect example of the stupidity involved in the Obama recovery ....and Obama himself ("law professor lacking real-life business experience) LMAO! Obama, Reid, and Pelosi sold this country out during a crucial time of need. They used the hopes & dreams of a nation in a crisis to payback big-time donors and a carry out a political ideology that the majority didn't want. Voters were afraid of the future and trusted his words. They thought he "got it!" He was "the smartest president ever." Instead they got more misery. The Obama Administration never let our financial crisis go to waste, they made it worse. Edited by Baldo, Oct 3 2011, 11:42 AM.

If you read through the Green Company, Hidden Costs and Deficit & Debt thread, the overall story is worrisome ....like we're all screwed and the answer we get is the political one-liner responses, a new one each month. |

I thought this joke fit in this thread the best, but I'll understand if it's deleted or moved...![]() OBAMA, the "POST TURTLE" While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught in the squeeze gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his role as our president. The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle.' Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him, what a 'post turtle' was. The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle.' The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain; "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, he's elevated beyond his ability to function, and you just wonder what kind of dumb azz put him up there to begin with." |

Never as far as I know. McCain didn't stand a chance in hell and didn't want to fight to win. For his US senate run the GOP candidate had divorce papers released on him and the pulled out. The GOP then got Keyes to run even though he wasn't a resident of the state. Keyes proceeded to run a joke campaign against 0bama. In his first state senate run he ran unopposed in the democrat primary in a democrat district after getting his opponents thrown off the ballot. |

Post Turtle! Come on we all know the truth. Out of politeness none of us have said it. Obama is the first Affirmative Action President and we have paid a dear price for his election Now before racist claims are made I would be happy for Herman Cain as President. That is man who earned his way! Edited by Baldo, Oct 3 2011, 03:58 PM.

Baldo, Thank you for putting in writing what so many of us have come to understand and have stated publicly. He never earned any of his accomplishments, never acted with integrity, and when challenged with reality he becomes offended. Herman Cain would have fulfilled all his promises. |

He doesn't regret losing money that belongs to somebody else? I'm left speechless! ...as I search to see how a socialist defines "doing well". |

I hold Wasserman's brilliance at about the same level I give Obama! Kinda stupid to bicker about a 4 year performance when you've only been in office 33 months! There's no question whether or not he has failed, but the question about the 4 years was planted to leave him a door to escape that record, IMO, or more so to blame Bush ...and the idiot missed that door just as Wasserman did. |
