HELL MUST BE FREEZING OVER

Soros Bashes Obama For Following Outdated Keynesian Economics, Says Keynes Would “Definitely” Adjust His Theories If He Were Alive Today…

I think the Soros Express just ran over Barack Obama.

SPIEGEL Interview with George Soros — Spiegel

SPIEGEL: The United States is drowning in even more debt than Europeans. Its economic recovery has been painful. Are we going to see a double-dip recession in the US?

Soros: The indebtedness of the US is not all that high, but if a double-dip recession was in doubt a few weeks ago, it is less in doubt now, because financial markets have a very safe way of predicting the future. They cause it. And the markets have decided that America is going to see a recession, particularly after the recent downgrade of the US by the rating agency Standard & Poor’s.

SPIEGEL: President Barack Obama has been fiercely criticized for his handling of the economy. You were one of his biggest supporters in 2008. Are you happy with his economic policy?

Soros: No, of course not. But the reality is that we have had 25 years of excesses building up in America — a combustible mix of too much credit and too much leverage. You need a long time to reverse that.

SPIEGEL: Obama tried to stimulate growth with a gigantic stimulus program which increased the national debt further. Was that a mistake?

Soros: Obama embraced the ideas of John Maynard Keynes. Basically, the analysis of Keynes is still very relevant — with one big difference between now and the 1930s. In the 1930s, governments had practically no debt and could therefore run deficits. Nowadays, all governments are heavily indebted, and that is a big change.

SPIEGEL: If Keynes were still alive, would he adjust his theory?

Soros: Definitely. He would say governments can still benefit from running fiscal deficits, but the new debt has to be invested in a way that will pay for itself. So the money spent would have to increase productivity.

Now I'm wondering if Soros and Obama have had a 'failure to commumicate' ...maybe in what "investment" should mean.

Obama gets advice on jobs plan

Published: Aug. 23, 2011

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, Mass., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- President Barack Obama got advice for his jobs plan from billionaire investor Warren Buffett and Ford chief Alan Mulally, a White House spokesman said.

Josh Earnest told The Hill the president took time from his vacation on Martha's Vineyard Monday to talk with Buffett about possible measures that "would spur investment and increase economic growth."

"They also talked about some measures that could address the long-term fiscal situation," Earnest said.

The president phoned Ford Motor Chief Executive Officer Mulally and discussed ways to stimulate exports and investments as well as the disruptions to the auto supply chain caused by the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, the spokesman said.

Earnest said Obama will spend the remainder of this week working through his jobs plan scheduled to be announced after Labor Day.

So far the president has called for extensions of the payroll tax holiday and unemployment benefits, the passage of trade agreements and the creation of an infrastructure bank

So the Brilliant mind that is telling the auto industry how to make money by producing fewer of their hot ticket vehicles is now seeking advice from the US automaker that he did not get to loan money to?

Was the GM management too busy working on ramping up Volt production to take his call?

he question this time is not just whether Texas Gov. Rick Perry is dumb -- the Left claims the obvious answer is yes -- but also whether he is as dumb as George W. Bush, or even much dumber, moronic where Bush was simply "incurious," and also much less gently bred.

Either way, few on the Left doubt that neither is, as Steve Benen says, "an intellectually curious, creative thinker, capable to examining [sic] complex issues in a sophisticated way."

Fortunately we have such a thinker, "capable to examining" things to perfection, and that is the problem: President Obama is their ideal of a thinker. He is president, and he has been -- how to put it? -- a bomb.

Based on results, Perry has been more successful as governor of Texas than Obama has been as president, or as anything else he has ever tried being, in the entire whole course of his life.

In 2008, Obama was hailed as a genius, a "first rate intellect," the smartest man to ever be president, and we know now the first part is true. He is the political genius who shed 30 points in his first years in office.

He's the political genius who blew up his coalition in his first months in office, who led his party to annihilation in the 2010 midterms (while showing utter indifference to the fate of congressional Democrats), and gave the Republicans -- who were on the floor, in a coma -- more than they needed to come roaring back from the dead.

He is the policy genius who "leads from behind," whose engagement ideas have gone nowhere, whose stimulus stimulated only the deficit, whose health care "success" helped kill off his recovery, and whose efforts to create jobs all fell flat.

Almost 40 percent of the new jobs that were created happened under Perry in Texas. Liberals who fault that state for its low levels of taxes and spending might ask themselves why, if it is a hellhole, so many people go there and stay there.

Many of them are fleeing states ruled by Democrats, which have high taxes, a strong union presence and a rich array of the programs that Democrats love.

If this is idiocy, we may want some more idiots, as Lincoln once asked for more drunks in his army, rather like Gen. Grant.

An Israeli news columnist is scorching Barack Obama as possibly the worst U.S. president in history, calling him "a living and breathing nightmare."

President Obama campaigning for other Democrats in 2010

Yigal Walt of Ynetnews says Obama "is solidifying his status as the worst president in American history. The leader who promised us a bright future of peace and fraternity is leading the American empire – and the rest of the world with it – into a dark abyss."

"Ever since he settled into the Oval Office, Obama has been hopping from one disaster to the next, making every possible mistake, boosting enemies and disregarding allies while ruining everything he touches in the process," Walt writes.

NYT Sycophant Tom Friedman: Obama Should Play More Golf Because He’s Like Tiger Woods…

Obama, Tiger, Golf and Politics

By THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN

Despite the carping by critics, I’m glad the president went on vacation because one of the most useful things he could do right now is play golf — a lot of golf — but not that friendly foursome thing with his aides that he usually does. No, real golf: Match play, head to head, with real money on the line. Match-play golf is a great teacher. As any good golfer will tell you, the first rule of match play is this: Never play not to lose. Do not wait and hope for your opponent to make a mistake. Always play the course, always play to win and always assume your opponent will do well — will make that long putt — so you have to do better. . . .

Obama is smart, decent and tough, with exactly the right instincts about where the country needs to go. He has accomplished a lot more than he’s gotten credit for — with an opposition dedicated to making him fail. But lately he is seriously off his game. He’s not Jimmy Carter. He’s Tiger Woods — a natural who’s lost his swing. He has so many different swing thoughts in his head, so many people whispering in his ear about what the polls say and how he needs to position himself to get re-elected, that he has lost all his natural instincts for the game. He needs to get back to basics....snipped

Not really the best analogy, ya think?

Friedman has really hurt his brand

I've never seen a POTUS take a vacation with numerous pre-recorded messages for the public AND AND AND... the media reporting so many "briefings" he must participate in, as if he's not really on vacation

...OH WAIT, that's the illusion!

Dick Morris tells of how he anticipates the Libya matter to never end. We'll see how it progresses and HOW Barry can keep us out of it(!) between now and election time. A downside is that the old Rep's are wanting more action there!

Europeans Retreat on Defense Spending

BRUSSELS—The unraveling of Col. Moammar Gadhafi's regime is a milestone for the European armed forces providing the air support that turned the tide for Libyan rebels, who were on the verge of being overrun only five months ago.

Yet despite the scenes from Tripoli of rebel forces advancing with the help of European air strikes, the first North Atlantic Treaty Organization campaign not led by the U.S. has shown the limitations of the Continent's military power in an era of crushing national debt and slashed defense spending.

"The fact is that Europe couldn't have done this on its own," said ...snipped

So guess who will be stuck going into Libya to try and find & secure all those surface to air missiles, poison gas stocks, and radioactive material?

I hope it doesn't but this is going to be a real mess and even under a rosy projection it will take years to get oil production up to per-rebellion levels according to reports.

So why did we do this? The tribal warfare will continue with an insurgency, weapons will fall into Al Qaeda hands, and in the long run I doubt it will be a pro-western country.

You think we would have learned
