DURHAM, NC -- North Carolina Central University Chancellor Charlie Nelms will speak at Duke Chapel on Thursday, Nov. 18, as part of a discussion about race and higher education with Chapel Dean Sam Wells.

The event begins at 12:15 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The discussion is part of the Chapel’s Dean’s Dialogue series, “Listening to the Heart of Durham.”

“Dr. Nelms has attracted admiration for the vigor and realism with which he has addressed the challenges of education, especially among African Americans in Durham,” Wells said. “This is an opportunity to discuss issues that are often avoided and to look to Dr. Nelms to offer a vocabulary and a vision for a new generation of thinking about race, education and excellence.”

In the “Listening to the Heart of Durham” discussion series, Wells discusses topics surrounding the common good and the Duke-Durham relationship. Those who attend these events will have a chance to ask questions, too.

Anyone going? Anyone planning to ask a question?

(like, how did a particular someone get a degree?

how did the newspaper print a certain editorial?

is an apology due to Duke from NCCU?

have any strippers ever been hired by NCCU
teams and frats?
)
